If you watched that match not knowing anything about us you wouldn't have been able to tell who was on their professional debut out of him and Iwobi.

He wasn't bad, wasn't great, but he put a shift in. You could see him putting the effort in to hold the defensive shape and then close down when he had the cover behind him.

Thought Gordon did ok... only concern I have is one he can’t do to much about.. pace.. didn’t see too much of it and that could be a big issue if he wants to make a big impact on the wing.
Let’s hope it’s there.. just didn’t show itself.. hope he gets more game time to the end to show his talents..

I think if you thought that then you must not have much of an understanding of what the wide midfield players were asked to do.

I thought young Gordon could be more than pleased with his run out and I thought Iwobi gave a performance which helped snuff out one of the very best players in the league,... in my opinion the best attacking player Liverpool have by some distance. I would say that CA was delighted with him.

Stuck to his task as did Iwobi on Sunday. Expect him to play from the start again and have a bit more a licence to get forward but will need to do a defensive job when needed. Hope he gets the next 8 games as think he will really step up.

Were you in the room when Carlo gave the instructions mate?

If we were going to just play defensively they might as well have played Sidibe instead of Iwobi because he offered absolutely nothing out of our own half. I don't think Carlo would have been praising his attacking play.

Seemed a bit in awe to me, maybe the game was too big for him...

He has lots of time, the more games he plays the better he will become....

He has good pace but must learn to use it wisely...

I wasn't in the room but I did watch the game.

The managers tactics were brilliant, very Italian in my opinion.
I think CA knows very well how to play against a Klopp tam and his history seems to show that. We wrapped up Liverpool so that they really were not sure what to do next.
Two banks of four with two hardworking forwards up front.
Liverpool do not have much creativity in the middle , most of their threat comes from the wings but we closed down the space there completely. We didn't even ride our luck when really it was the other way around.

The two wide central midfielders, Gordon and I wobi, were in my opinion absolutely central to the result and performance.

I am astonished more manager do not play this way against Liverpool.
I saw a bit of a game where Liverpool played Spurs, their wide players had the freedom of the park and caused havoc.

Wide central midfielders????

Me too, debuts can be like that. As much as people think they should play a blinder some players get lost.
Once he relaxes and plays a few games will be the time to judge him I think.
He’s lucky he has Ancelotti as his boss, the wise old Owl will know if he’s good enough
