This 'loan deal' stuff: it's for people who dont like a player with a bit of flair but cant bring themselves to say that, so say the Championship might be the making of said player.

He did more in one move today than nearly all his team mates put into that whole match. Digne was about as usefeul as a chocolate fireguard linking up down the left (and is clearly rusty) and offered no help to Gordon. That's a decent appraisal of today.

Digne has just come back from a broken ankle and Gordon offered him absolutely no help what so ever defensively today. Olosunde was their wing back not their wide midfielder. He was always overlapping Lindsay and causing a 2v1 against Digne and Gordon was no where to be seen.

Learning his trade. He may make it or he may not, but clearly chances to learn that trade and break through are at a premium at truly ambitious clubs. That he is getting those chances with us tells us all we need to know about where we currently sit.

I'm all for keeping him and nurturing him, maybe sending him on loan, but if the current iteration of Anthony Gordon is in contention for starting spots in our side come August, well, we will have to accept our place in the grand scheme of things.

That's one way of looking at it. The wrong way.

You can see the potential there but you can also see why he’s not getting in the team. He’s young and just needs time to grow. Good for him to get some minutes today.
Don't know physique wise he seems up to the Prem but just appears to lose focus, and as others have said gave Digne little to no help when he obviously needed it.

Haha, so you don’t even know his name or that he’s 20 , wonder if you even know what position he plays, so hard to take this post seriously.
Gordon was pulled off by one of the most decorated managers in the game because the game was passing him by, the team we were playing are 2nd to bottom in the championship just let that sink in.

I have not seen anything in Gordon to think this lad is special because plain and simply he is not, other teams are playing young lads that don’t look out of place, he looked out of his depth today

When you put youngsters in you are looking for the senior pros to look after them and guide them through games. Look at the games that the people around him had: Davies Gomes and Digne all had stinkers and Gordon managed to be the only person who forced Tosun out of a gentle jog with his ball for the goal.
Should he be affecting games more? Absolutely, but stick him in the team surrounded by our better players when they are fully fit and don’t place the main creative burden on him on his own. Allow him to get comfortable playing with our better players and feel like he belongs in that group and see if he flourishes. If he doesn’t then fair enough but at least he’d have had a chance. Not fair to judge him when he is given the ball 5 seconds after he should have received it because our midfield can’t control a ball or play a one touch pass to him to get him straight on the front foot.
