Forget his ability for a minute his work rate is second to none and he deserved the reception he got today when subbed. I didn’t think the lad had it tbh but I’m quickly changing my mind.
I'd like to see more consistent production in terms of goals + assists from him, but all signs point to him continuing in that direction, especially with the current coaching setup.

But seriously, you are 100 percent correct in this. He doesn't half put a shift in. If he gets the ball, he's always trying to push it into dangerous spaces and get a ball in. He's good enough to cause damage when he gets there, and if he gives it up he works to win it back; it's not always going to come off, but he seems like exactly the type of player you never want to go up against as a defender.

I'm comparing him to DCL in the sense that i need to see more games before I call it more than a purple patch. It took me a while on DCL because he was nothing more than a athletic raw talent for a good bit. It won't take me as long on Gordon, because he always was a player that needed a shot and finally got one.

I'm comparing him to Alli in the sense that Alli had quite the purple patch, then turned into a pumpkin.

For all we know, he'll develop Balotelli's attitude or Mason Greenwood's off-pitch problems. Let's not pile the expectations on just yet. Let's just enjoy the way he's playing footy right now.
Wtf...

Your comparing him to DCL
Your comparing him to Alli

He may devolp Balotellis attitude
He may get Mason Greenwoods off pitch problems...

Hey he could become the new Peter Sutcliffe, maybe he can get some mad bird and and become the next Fred West, what about if he buys a lovely knife to Jack the Ripper all the brasses up on Everton Valley before slipping away into the fog...

Really fella , absolutely mental post, if I was you I'd lay off smoking the crack or whatever mind numbing gear your subjecting your poor brain too. Utterly bonkers post:Blink::Blink::Blink:

Sufficient to say, he's going in the right direction and under Frank's wing let's just sit back and watch him not just fly but soar as he grows in confidence. Enjoyed his drive and determination against the Bee's. Long may it continue.

He is way beyond DCL. DCL is football by numbers. Theres no hint of guile there, let alone genius. Gordon has that little bit of sparkle that makes him special.

I'm not claiming he's Rooney-good; but he's defo getting good enough to get into any elite team in this country.

People need to wake up to this lad's level of talent. To compare him with Delli 'kin Alli is an insult.

Any elite team in the county? Common dave let’s keep real for a moment . He’s a good young player that is improving and doing well, let’s just let him be for the moment before we start saying outlandish statements of him breaking into a top 4 team based on a few good games

Watching back the highlights there, that 3rd goal comes from his work rate and constant pressure. He takes the ball off the toes of their full back and puts the cross in to Gray who’s deflected shot wins us the corner we scored the 3rd from.

Tremendous work rate. Still a way to go for him, but extra nice to see a local lad out there smashing it! :D

The lad clearly dreams of being the Everton poster boy and he's got all the ingredients to make it.

I had him down as being able to have an Osman level of career if things swung his way, but I'm starting to think I underestimated him.

Still early days mind.

The number 10 shirt will be free in the summer, I think we could do a lot worse than young Tony...

What's interesting about Gordon is that despite his obvious talent and his leap in productivity for Everton this year, I'm not at all clear on what his best position is. Has looked promising as a chalk-on-the-boots type winger, a Richarlison type cutting in from wide, and even a playmaker type role carrying the ball a bit from deep and knitting play together.

His coaching over the next couple of years is going to be vital to the player he turns out to be. Let's hope we've found a bit of nouse and stability in our coaching for once, because this kid could be something special.

Do I recall him playing centre midfield at some point last season or the season before last and looking better than our centre midfielders?
