Hit and hope merchant for his later years, wayward Hollywood balls every time he got hold of it. His younger years he was a bang average thug. Had a purple patch (only for Liverpool mind) of about 3 years where he was genuinely world class, yet still not as good as Scholes or Lampard.
Wouldn't get in the top 10 best midfielders of the Premier League era.

As you're doing "they played X" - Keane was a defensive mid to begin with anyway, so also moot. Could be said about Scholes too tbh, but whatever.
Seeing as a top 10 is purely subjective and pointless to even discuss anything it seems, let's agree do disagree.
Up to you if you like him or not, but realistically he was class, and saying "he was only world class for 3 years" is 3 years more than the next world class midfielder we've had in the last 20-odd years for the most part.
