I take offence for how unbelievably stupid your posts are tbh
Ahhh ... getting to the personal insults now are we. Sure fire way to win a debate .... in a junior school playground that is.

We differ in opinion, that's all. You accept or ate blind to cheating as part of sport, I abhor it. I wouldn't call you stupid for it, but I wouldn't lend you cash.

nar i get everyone has opinions like, but gerrard being average is a really bizarre one mate ha

Nobody said average. I said 'overrated'.

I dont subscribe to the kopite trait of every player they have is der best in der weeerrrrrllllld la. I suppose you think van Dijk is the best defender in the history of the galaxy? That's what we're led to believe by kopites and their trusty media.

Gerrard was very good, excellent on his day - but was overrated. Good young player, amazing in his mid twenties, carried when Alonso turned up and a liability in his later years.
They were absolutely forwards, but sure. Zola also.
As you're doing "they played X" - Keane was a defensive mid to begin with anyway, so also moot. Could be said about Scholes too tbh, but whatever.

Seeing as a top 10 is purely subjective and pointless to even discuss anything it seems, let's agree do disagree.

Up to you if you like him or not, but realistically he was class, and saying "he was only world class for 3 years" is 3 years more than the next world class midfielder we've had in the last 20-odd years for the most part.

I said midfield, they are all midfielders, albeit playing different roles in it. Gerrard was a box to box midfielder, therefore encompassing all the aforementioned roles.

This is the Gordon thread lads, take Slippy to world football. he wasn't overrated though tbh but Anthony Gordon eh, bright future.

Hit and hope merchant for his later years, wayward Hollywood balls every time he got hold of it. His younger years he was a bang average thug. Had a purple patch (only for Liverpool mind) of about 3 years where he was genuinely world class, yet still not as good as Scholes or Lampard.

Wouldn't get in the top 10 best midfielders of the Premier League era.

Mate I hate him as much as anyone and think he’s an arrogant “ poor language removed “ but you cannot deny he was a class player and literally dragged them to trophies

Like I say, he was a great player - but overrated. No positional discipline (which is why he was awful for England) no tactical discipline, as outlined by our much loved ex-manager, not as great at passing or shooting as 'some' would have us believe. Over 800 appearances, yet only scored 10 direct free kicks. Wayward, rush of blood player which came off once in a blue moon.

Great player on his day, yet look at MANY other peoples opinion on him - I'm far from alone in my viewpoint. Look at him objectively and not as a scouser laaaaa and you'll see i'm right. The Gerrard love-in is born from the same media that dominates the football we watch, the one we all moan about.

Nine major trophies with Liverpool and a third-place finish in the 2005 Ballon d’Or, Gerrard is arguably Liverpool’s greatest captain. His strength lied in his passion and desire to win, as evidenced in the remarkable 2005 Champions League comeback against AC Milan. So how can Gerrard be called overrated? While his 120 goals and 92 league assists are mighty impressive for a midfielder, Gerrard’s tackle success rate and shot accuracy are less than that of Marouane Fellaini, as was his passes per match average. With a tendency for giving the odd dodgy back pass, Gerrard has previously been criticised for his lack of tactical awareness, by previous boss Rafael Benitez. Often, he would attempt to break through defences with 40-yard passes, which more often than not turned possession over to the opposition, when a simpler pass would have been more effective. There is also the issue of Gerrard’s England career, which Gerrard himself rated a “6/10” (but that is best saved for another article). Gerrard ended his career if an indifferent spell with LA Galaxy, having spent the previous 17 years at Liverpool, which leaves the question, could Steven Gerrard of won more elsewhere? No, his love of Liverpool brought out the best in him, for that he is a club legend. A very good footballer, but nowhere near the levels of Pirlo, which some hold him in the same breath as.

Forgot Pires and Alonso from my list of Premier League Midfielders too...

Bad shout this really bad.

That keys article is hilarious, so basic and lacking in any detail or substance. It gives me the impression that he probably hasn’t even watched Gordon more than once or twice but got told by someone he is a top prospect and then decided to randomly compare him to Gerrard for clicks even though they aren’t similar players.

No one can convince me that football journalists don’t have most doss job ever.
