….it’s interesting, I use the successful sides we’ve had in the past and we had a supply of goals form wider areas;

Husband/Morrisey 1970 (Whittle replaced injured Husband and scored 11 in the run-in)
Steven/Sheedy

its not rocket science to replicate what works. Sometimes we make the game more complicated than it needs to be.

He’s capable of giving the ball away a lot but if he works on this and his end product he will be a very good player.

I think we will see his end product improve next season. A bit more experience in the Premier league and not being in a relegation fight should help.

A few goals and being star of the show at u21s should give confidence too.

Both those great sides had defensive midfielders who hardly contributed goals (Harvey/Kendall; Bracewell/Reid). Weirdly Hurst and Mountfield scored plenty from CB.

Not a bad blueprint.

Hes tearing it up amongst his peers though for England, that bodes very well, it suggests its experience as opposed to ability.
