We don't have any money - and we desperately need to sign some players

Hence we have to sell our only saleable assets - of which Gordon is one

Well duh

I get selling one of DCL, or Richy, or Pickers if the price is north of £50m. Personally I'd rather we didn't but I get it if the player's ambition is to leave and our hand is forced to get in new signings and refresh the squad, then fine. And be fair we're not going to get more than £60m for any of our players. That's pretty much the ceiling for any player from Everton. So the business model dictates that one needs to cash in on one of those assets once in a while.

But come on, this is bad business. Is this guy a sellable asset? Or more accurately, do you sell a lad for rumoured £35m now if I) he wants to stay; and II) he could be worth an extra £15m in a season's time. Yada yada goals yada yada assists but I watch football with my eyes not my excel spreadsheet and it is clear that Tony Gordon's upward improvement is pretty linear and think he will jump once again under Lampard. Assets are there to be sold when the time is right, not just because you can.

What are you realistically going to do with £35m in today's market that will be better than what we have?

Zero. Business. Sense.

Not a chance. Anthony Gordon to Newcastle. Never. It's ridiculous just taking about it. EFC forever.

I don’t understand people saying he’s worth/not worth £35 million.
The number is irrelevant, the question with worth has to be if we sold him for x amount could we make the team stronger?
I don’t see how we could spend that much in the current market and improve the team, let alone factoring in how much better Gordon could get with improved confidence/experience/training.
