I don’t understand people saying he’s worth/not worth £35 million.
The number is irrelevant, the question with worth has to be if we sold him for x amount could we make the team stronger?
I don’t see how we could spend that much in the current market and improve the team, let alone factoring in how much better Gordon could get with improved confidence/experience/training.

Say he doesn’t kick on from last season, you’d still get there or there about that kind of money for him.

If he does kick on, you’re probably talking about £60m next year, taking the English factor and raw attributes he has into consideration.

We’d only end up spending the £35m on more dross anyway.

exactly, he can go some way to plugging the Richardson gap up the top end of the pitch with his speed carrying the ball forward and his energy/running about a bit, it makes no sense to sell him,

If we could get a good fee for Gordon it would be excellent business. Anything over 20 million and we should accept. He's really a gamble whether he will end up a Premier league quality player or not and we can definitely replace him with better.

I'm sure they're interested but this is more likely just a play from Newcastle to kickstart negotiations for Diaby or whoever else they're trying to sign. It's smart really - pretend you're interested in a slightly cheaper option who you know to be unavailable.
