I’m trying to think of another player similar to Gordon to use as a comparison

Would Jacob Ramsey be a good comparator? 21 years old same as Gordon with 6 goals and 1 assist. More goal contributions than Gordon last season.

Do you think villa would sell Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle for 35 mil? I reckon they would you know.

Then they'd be absolute idiots.

They made damn sure to try ward off the Arsenal and City interest by giving him a 5 year deal last month too.

We can't carry on selling our best prospects for peanuts. Yeah there are plenty of things to improve in Gordon's game. But seriously, would we have stayed up without him? I doubt it. He was the one at such a young age to teach them what it was all about

Perhaps not. I think in a team that was essentially bottom 3 form ince he broke in, it was a reasonable performance level for a 20/21 year old in his first season.

His defensive stats are also outstanding.

But he needs to keep getting better.

Either way, his record in the top division is better than MGW. That means nothing mind, as if the figure was right I'd sell Gordon, and if the price is right I'd happily have MGW.

The movement in front of him was piss poor. He was getting to the edge of the box looking to get shots off and faced by a wall of defenders.

Our attackers couldn't drag defenders out of the way with intelligent movement so Gordon was drifting sideways across the edge of the box and having to lay the ball off.


In a team with good attackers Gordon gets a decent haul of goals.

If the bid looks to get over 40m, I think it had to be given consideration. We have to ask, is Gordon either going to get 8+ goals, or play deeper and influence games.

I love Gordon, but if we can get say McNeil, MGW and AN other for similar money we have to be practical about things.

And thats fine, ive said, I wanna see the lad play in a team not fighting for its life and with something like an attacking plan.

Its not picking, but about to be 22 and nearly a year older than Gordon. Similar goals and assists, and similar when you consider minutes played.

I doubt they sell for 35m, and Gordon should probably be worth a bit more for being younger IMO.

Think Gordon could be a more special player too.

I think he's the sort of player that makes a team better, and the speed at which he can carry the ball is truly frightening (just ask Scouser Trent).

Went off the boil last season, but there's quality there.

We dont get a draw home v Leicester without his mom performance mate.
We fell apart v Burnley after he came off after he'd been brilliant all game
Derby with even semi decent officiating he gets us a result in that too.
