Only real bright spot for me really, been dying to see Gordon score, after offside goals, bars/ posts and great saves stopping him scoring, beginning to think he was one of those players, who it would never happen for. Think he needed a bit of luck and he got it with that deflection, always the one putting the extra effort in, trying to make things happen. For me he's added a few things this year to his game, found an extra hard of pace and also added some much needed aggression to his game, looks a whole lot better for it. First off the bench for me when all players fit.

Very good points and, putting my cynics hat away, he is probably learning loads off Gray and Richarlison too.

Well I always felt he had something about him. I was delighted with his performance in that game.

i have two thoughts following that performance.

Firstly, he is another youngster that was written off by plenty on here as championship level at best. Some of our academy players need time and patience to grow into their first team role. They don’t arrive PL ready.

Secondly, I doubt he would have been given game time except for the injury crisis. It always seems the way that Everton managers are reluctant to take a chance with young players. I can almost guarantee that he will be back on the bench when others return from injury. Our managers should have bonus objectives around getting academy players into the first team.

We're one of the very worst fan bases for that sadly

Seeing the way other supporters take pride in players coming through the ranks whilst so many of ours seem to actively relish in tearing them down is just bizarre

It is bizarre. Gordon always looked like he had ability and now he believes he is first team material, he is showing it.

I think Simms and Dobbin are in the same boat. Both look good but need time to adjust to the PL. They could save us an absolute fortune if they are managed properly.

He's young AND he's from Scotland

I can almost hear the knives getting sharpened for him

I bet they honestly can't wait

Yep. We really need to look at ourselves. These two young fullbacks will make mistakes and shortcoming in areas but we don't have grown up players analysis on here.

I'm guilty of this as well.

I said he hadnt done anything I found impressive.

I kinda need my players to do more than run around a bit.

He was very good the other day, lets hope he kicks on and makes that performance the norm, rather than the rare.
But the fat man loves running around stats.

You jumped in too soon on Gordon. The smart thing to do was wait.

As an example: I've seen Patterson play and that's why I make my projections he'll be a defensive catastrophe here. I think you should have held fire on Gordon until you'd seen more of him.

I hope you found this informative and that it helps.
