2022/23 Anthony Gordon

Pulisic was world class at 20 though for an under 21 player. Nobody was making an argument Pulisic was terrible at 20 as he wasn't.

It's fine to say 50m is a huge bid and Gordon is a very talented young player.
The goalkeeper is a bit of a weird one. Don't really get that.
Serious question, do you even know what world class means??

You can’t in one post call people out for “not understanding the game”, then start saying Pulisic and Gordon are world class.

They were good players for their age that could develop and that’s about it. Chelsea pay a premium to get ahead of the curve

He's not a striker and yes, I would swap £50m Gordon for him in a heart beat.

Is he not a striker? I seem to remember him playing in a front 3. He's not a defender or midfielder is he?

So 13 goals, in 3.5 years is now "excellent" (thats under 4 goals a season). And you would pay 50m for him?
We will have to agree to disagree my friend. I would not pay 50m for him, never mind substantially more than that for him. And I doubt anybody else would, as he's simply not levels ahead of Gordon. He's in and around the same level.

What ridiculous logic this is. If we had a really promising academy star would you suggest we sell them purely because they've only scored in the u21 league???

When you sell a player you not only lose what they have contributed but what they possibly could contribute in the future.
'promising' and 'possibly' are two key words in there.

There's nothing whatsoever to suggest that £45-50m for Gordon right now is bad business. Room for improvement, sure. Peak Ronaldo, highly doubtful. Could easily end up go a similar way of Barkley or Rodwell after a bright start (although I think he will be better than those two). £50m = no brainer when we can reinvest that in the team and significantly improve a couple of areas.

The key bit you are missing is for their age.

There are not many players who were doing what either were doing at their age. That's the key part.

And Chelsea are paying a fee, that is indicative of a player with world class potential. It's also why Ashworth made an opening bid in and around that region.
As for not knowing the game, if people think Gordon just runs around, and is championship standard, I'm not sure they've played the game at any sort of level. It's completely illogical. Players who are championship players don't get bids of over 40m.

My point I suppose is people underestimate Gordon.

If Martinelli was that good Chelsea could just buy him instead. Nobody is paying 50m for him so it would get him.
I think Martinelli is good too, like Gordon is a world class young player, with potential. I've not seen much evidence he's miles ahead. 13 goals in 3.5 years doesn't suggest he is anyway.
I think some do mate, but not sure most do in all honesty. A lot I think see a young player who's come through the ranks here, has talent and flair and skill etc.

They also see that £50m right now could have a massive, massive positive impact.

Is a left winger a striker???

I wouldn't pay £50m for him, but I also wouldn't pay £50m for Gordon.

Why any time a team want our player, does the media link us with all their tosh. Happened with Spurs as well back in June.

Should be a negotiation only about Gordon. Do Chelsea want to pay our valuation or not and forget other players and other distractions.
Imagine us being able to offload some of our tripe to Burnley as part of the McNeil deal. What a privilege it would be. Seems to be reserved for the mega money clubs though
