We will have to agree to disagree my friend. I would not pay 50m for him, never mind substantially more than that for him. And I doubt anybody else would, as he's simply not levels ahead of Gordon. He's in and around the same level.

I think some do mate, but not sure most do in all honesty. A lot I think see a young player who's come through the ranks here, has talent and flair and skill etc.

They also see that £50m right now could have a massive, massive positive impact.

I see the latter. I've been open that I would sell. But the idea he should be a sub for us, or is not good enough for us, or is only championship standard is completely absurb given the interest in him. That is from objective buyers. They have completely disproven that nonsense.

I think Martinelli is good. I just don't think at the current moment he is an excellent PL player. He may well become one.

The key bit you are missing is for their age.

There are not many players who were doing what either were doing at their age. That's the key part.

And Chelsea are paying a fee, that is indicative of a player with world class potential. It's also why Ashworth made an opening bid in and around that region.
As for not knowing the game, if people think Gordon just runs around, and is championship standard, I'm not sure they've played the game at any sort of level. It's completely illogical. Players who are championship players don't get bids of over 40m.

No mate, I’m not

I’ve been lucky enough to see world class players at 20, and you can tell instantly the difference between a promising player and player that will change football.

I’ve seen Ronaldo play for PSV, Christiano Ronaldo rock out for Utd and a very very young Messi at the Nou Camp. When I watched them I knew, without a shadow of doubt, that they would go on to achieve at the top.

That’s the difference. So please stop calling Gordon world class

So do wingers in the modern game play as attackers, or midfielders? In a system like Arsenal's 4-3-3?
He's a wide striker and his goal record isn't very good.

I'm not necessarily arguing that.

I'm arguing he is not so far ahead of Gordon to be out of the question.
The market is valuing Gordon at at least 40m pounds. I don't think Martinelli is miles ahead of that.
