I'd like to go on record to say that I really would like to keep Gordon.

Best potential we have produced in a long time. With God given pace to burn too. Lots to develop in my opinion.

But.are we in a place to have the luxury of developing players of Gordon's age. I duno...it's a tough one
How many times do Everton have to be in this position tho? Rooney just off the top of my head being one example where we develop and bring on and then these clubs swoop in and while at times it has helped us avoid all sorts of consequences, I hark to the the days when we sat at the top and who knows with sales like these it may one day happen again, recent history and inept owner and board tell me very differently tho!

I was talking about the guy Chelsea are meant to be buying
50m is overpriced for Gordon anyway? I don't understand the narrative that we should be getting more than 50? Just because they're also paying over the odds for a very talented defender shouldn't mean we should get 80m for Gordon also.

Based on recent fees paid we did not get fair value, yes Spurs are notorious in their dealings but this was not good money
Based on which fees? Richarlison is a 25 year old good but not great player who hasn't improved in four seasons. 50m was extremely fair and to be perfectly honest if roles were swapped I'd honestly question what Everton were doing paying that much.

The same goes for this btw, there is just no reason to buy Gordon for 45m when plenty of similarly talented players exist. Just absolute madness that we've decided to participate in by not immediately looking to get the deal done.

The upside to turning down 45m is what 5m? And then you think about the downside and take it. I just don't get it.

Nope. This is not just about one deal. This is as much about perception and not being a pushover with a big club trying to take our homegrown player.

Being strong in the transfer market and being prepared to walk away from the table is very important. We've happily overpaid on average players for years and then been terrible at selling the players we don't want. We need to start showing we are credible negotiators and will get top dollar for our players.

If Cucurella was £63m, then a 25 year old Brazil international centre forward should have been £80m plus.

I'm shocked they are turning down this money; sorts out our FFP, and we get Gana, a striker and AN Other...
Gana was possibly happening without another sale. We can buy two to three additional players with this windfall. And we're losing a player who has shown he can't really impact a team to that great of an extent right now!

I still believe in Gordon's ability to develop but we can turn him into two other players that also might develop. It is just a no brainer but Everton have no brain.

Thank God Jesus left City so he can claim the #9 shirt and I can stop hearing about Richarlison being the Brazil center forward like that wasn't also a distinction earned by players like Jo and Fred.
