2022/23 Anthony Gordon

If he plays tomorrow then he needs to be staying (bar a ludicrous offer - like £70m). It's far too late now to be selling important first team players.

I'm annoyed we've let this drag a week and are still talking. Like what is there to talk about? Tell Chelsea our number, tell them the deadline is this weekend, and tell them not to contact us unless they are making the bid.
It's not just about the amount.

Everton will be one of the reasons it's taking a while because they'll be weighing up their targets and enquiring about whether other clubs are open to a sale.

They'll do this PRIOR to accepting the deal for Gordon to make sure they can strengthen and not be left with 50m just burning a hole in their pocket and a depleted squad.

Thankfully, they're doing the right thing here.

It's the amount and when we get it.

It needs to be very soon or we keep him.

I have no problem keeping the player, but I want a decision to be made asap.

Well Gordon is going by the look of that interview and frank probably not happy or confused. Another player not playing tomorrow. I’m trying to be positive but how many times do we find ourselves in this position, regardless of finance.

This is Everton we are talking about. We knew Richarlison was leaving a year ago.

This is a good thing mate, a massive opportunity even more so than selling Richarlison was. We need to overhaul the squad and this is a big step toward doing it.

He said, twice, that he - 'I' - considers him an asset to the squad.

Reading between the lines... suggests to me that the club are open to selling him and he's just wanting to make it clear that he'd rather keep him.
I didn't take that out of it at all, his language was very equivocal, saying he was a big asset to us, but also talking about how much other players (presumably MGW) were going for at the moment. He absolutely was not saying Gordon was unsellable, quite the opposite I thought.

Point is, it's taking time not because they're morons but because we're obviously making enquiries on their list of targets to make sure they can replace Gordon if they sell.

I would hope so yes. But I hoped so when we sold Richarlison too. Hopefully we've learned from that.

But I don't think it's unreasonable to say that can't take too long either. We need 10 days to do business is we cash in. We only have about 12 as of today. The longer it goes, the harder we possibly make it for ourselves. There's a reason big high fee deals don't happen too often on deadline day.

I am a bit annoyed now, Gordon is darn near hinting he would like to move. So much for club loyalty.

Upto a day ago Chelsea hinting at including a player exchange, Batasuyahi but also said to be offering 40-45 Mill caxh .

Tries to do too much? What, like checking back inside and rolling it back to Mykolenko?

Honestly, i have to question what im actually seeing sometimes with the way people tell tall tales of all the magical stuff hes done. Id love to see a highlight reel of stuff that hes done, for the Everton 1st team, not U23s, not England U21s. It would be the 1 goal hes actually scored vs Brighton, followed by an endless succession of clips of him knocking it down the line and sprinting after it, and invariably throwing himself to the floor. Oh and that cross for Branthwaiths goal.
He's crap mate. Only someone like Blackburn would bid for him. ?

My feeling is if the club intended to get the deal done at 50m the deal would be done
Depends if Chelsea want to go that high. They've offers in for other players and may wait before coming back depending on what happens elsewhere.

My feeling is we either need to sell before this weekend, or not at all this window.
