2022/23 Anthony Gordon

He should have had 2 goals yesterday but he is a poor finisher. He makes bad decisions in front of goal and only sometimes does that get better with experience. Its 50 50 for me on whether he really develops.

The sad thing is he'll probably have more chance of developing away from Everton. The amount of pressure he has on his shoulders isn't fair. You look back at Rooney's first season with us and he was allowed to develop without being the main man whereas Gordon is our go to player.

Yeah mate pretty much the same type of role. Patterson and Myko/Vin providing the width - couple of Cms who can get forward and let Gordon drift around finding space

Its crossed my mind mate, be interesting to see what happens if we get the kid from Ajax, he looks a real line breaker not sure if he is our MGW alternative and he will play 8 or 10. Who you having on the left in that scenario.

End products getting slated left right and center, good finish the other day (yeah offside so doesn't count) still reacted first to the ball being loose, again yesterday a great anticipation right at the end to get into the loose header back, spilled shot the other game would have led to a tap in had we had any form of striker who can move faster then a snail. And another good save yesterday from Henderson.

He's getting into position to get the shots off and the positions he's getting into are improving, he's reacting quick and anticipating stuff more and more.

For me the signs are it's gonna start clicking sooner rather than later once we settle at a team (if he stays)

…his record coming through the ranks and just watching him at youth level suggests he can strike a ball sweetly & finish. Also, the fact he was on set pieces from when he was introduced into the team suggests he must’ve been hitting terrific dead balls in training.

All indicates he’s snatching at the ball or putting too much on his set pieces in match situations, so the signs are he can overcome his current shortfalls.

Saying that, we have pressing short-term needs & I’d certainly take £50m+ at this point in time to enable us to get some stability in our league position we can build from.

Ideally I'd love to see us go to a 5-3-2 initially mate and in an ideal world

McNeil/Vin on the left, Patterson right

Myko providing competition at LCB,

And dream scenario a mid of.

Garner with Onana and Gallagher in front of him, DCL up top and Gordon almost in a free 10 role

We'll nr er agree on the last part mate, I'd keep him whatever. But yeah I think we forget at times the pressure in the lad all last season and this and think it's causing him to snatch at things too much

I think at some point, if Chelsea keep coming back, the offer will be too good to turn down. Issue for me is the lack of time left in the window.

Agree with all except Gordon as Chelsea will be back with the magic figure and he’s off .

I really wish I could see it, I just don't.

Will he be a special player? Maybe.

Do we have the time to wait and see? I don't think so.

Nobody wants to sell homegrown talent but in this case I genuinely believe the money is better spent elsewhere.

Everyone has their price. I think £60-70m, which buys us Broja and Terrier, is worth selling Gordon for in our current situation.

He’s got more potential than both players though and could be the next big English talent.

If he can't handle that pressure then he's not cut out for the top level

Even if he develops into a top class talent, he’s going to leave anyway as we are not going to be getting regular CL football in the near future. Now might be the best time to sell if it gives us the chance to add more firepower and stay in the PL.

If we keep him and don’t add to the squad then we are going to need some serious output from him, Gray and McNeil this season.

On a footballing perspective, his game management as vastly improved. Last season he was blowing out of his arse after 60 mins, looks fitter and stronger to me. Nice to see him last the full 90mins.

Agree 100% I have no faith whatsoever that we will spend £50 wisely. Why would I? Name one signing we have made in recent years, who has set this team alight on a consistent basis? We will pizz the £50m up against the wall whilst having let go of Britain's best young prospect. No doubt about it.
