When he gets to Chelsea, Barkley can advise him how to spend 5 years achieving nothing except getting even richer than before. Shame we need the money, but reality bites and Gordon offers zero in respect of our urgent need for a goal scorer.

Everyone has their price. I think £60-70m, which buys us Broja and Terrier, is worth selling Gordon for in our current situation.

He’s got more potential than both players though and could be the next big English talent.

They are not going above 50 imo

I agree. And we should be taking that. Not only do I think they are massively overpaying for potential which I'm pretty certain he won't meet.

It just makes sense for us in the short term, because going into a season hoping he will be our main threat is a recipe for disaster. Sell him and use the money to buy a forward and a player that is less one dimensional as his replacement.

The sad thing is he'll probably have more chance of developing away from Everton. The amount of pressure he has on his shoulders isn't fair. You look back at Rooney's first season with us and he was allowed to develop without being the main man whereas Gordon is our go to player.
He’s probably going to Chelsea. Will he play as they tend to develop their players at other teams.

The issue with Gordon is that he doesn’t lack effort and does a lot of good things but he doesn’t have that calmness to score. Brennan Johnson scored yesterday - he needs to develop a lot at this level but if he has a sniff of a chance he scores. Is that something that can be coached? Will Gordon get the chance to develop in the Chelsea first team if he’s as productive in front of goal as he is at present. Gordon knows with us that he’ll get game time. At Chelsea he may have a limited number of chances to seal his position in the first team squad and so with a big transfer fee he will under incredible pressure. I genuinely feel that Gordon going at this point is a really big risk for him.

If he is to go he needs to go early next week so we have some time left. I don’t trust this club they will sell and panic end up with two shocking players on deadline day like Batman and januzi.

A well ran club already has potential deals lined up and agreed on the premise that a player is on his way out. They don't only start looking at players and talking to clubs and agents about deals after the sale has been made.

It's probably why so many transfer deals seem to drag on when from the outside it all looks fairly straightforward. It's like a chain when buying a house.
I wouldn’t get your hopes up in that case!
