Kudus on loan, £30m on a very good striker from abroad (not my job to say who, but that money buys you quality if you shop in the Bundesliga or France), £15m on a Gordon replacement from abroad. That money will go far.

£15m disappears into thin air.
I have obviously missed something here?

Wasn't this a fake bid/news?

Didn’t start looking at forwards until Dominic Calvert-Lewin got injured, from our own manager’s mouth, but yeah sure, they have a plan.

Then maybe the manager shouldn't have gone into the summer/season with DCL being his no1 CF.

Again a DOF will only target players in positions a manager wants.

If Lampard asked for a CM, CB, LW and LB Thelwell doesn't go and sign a GK or CF.

Absolutely mental innit. He was out a huge chunk of the season, and they put all their eggs in the "there's no way that'll happen again" basket.

The one thing they didn't want to happen...

I think it’s absolutely bizarre that they didn’t foresee this happening?

He wouldn’t play him against Blackpool as “a precaution”, so they were wrapping him up anyway, why would they not feel the need for a striker?

Erm. No. Thelwell was given full control over transfers this summer, as you said yourself. This has nothing to do with the manager so stop talking absolute ring.

The thing that we need to accept is that is we lose Gordon it will be a long time before we get another world class player/prospect at the club. Frank had wanted to build the team around him but that looks like it might not happen now. If he goes I'll wish him well and cheer on McNeil and Gray in the hope that they can make the step up to a higher level. If we can get to Bramley Moor with a healthy balance sheet that might be the point that we can really kick on.
Gordon is a very good player, with a very good attitude but it's ridiculous to say he is world class.

World class means you could get in any side anywhere in the world. He's not even close to that. We've had potentially 2 world class players in my lifetime - Rooney without a doubt, and possibly Lukaku, but that one is more up for debate.

You need to look up what a DOF actually does.

Yes he has control of transfers but that doesn't mean he decides what areas of the squad to be signed thats on the manager.

Lampard will approach the DOF and say: "I want a **insert position on the pitch** Thelwell then goes and targets players in that position.

If the club wasn't after a striker in July thats because Lampard wasn't asking for one.

:coffee:
Great Post.

Wont go down well with the bedwetters though.

My only criticism is not booting Kenwright and bringing in a proper chairman to oversee the football side of things.

I think this new DOF will be given full control and he'll take a back seat now but I still think he needs to chase Kenwright regardless who is the real problem at the club and has been for near 2 decades.

Changes are afoot though - Thelwell has been given full control of transfers which is what our fans wanted.

The reality is Kenwright won't be moved on regardless of what the fans say or do its just pointless to be fracturing the fanbase after the united front that was shown towards the back end of last season.

I imagine once BMD is built he'll possibly leave but not before then.

Fantastic post.

Sadly we live in the instant gratification era of social media and unless its happening NOW then some are never happy.

Im more than happy to wait until the end of deadline day before assessing the direction we look to be heading this coming season.

Since last season there has been a fan favourite manager installed, new DOF who has been given full control - lets see what happens next before wetting the bed.

No, that isn’t the job of a DOF at all

I dont what point you're trying to prove here.

Thelwell has control of transfers - not Moshiri or super agents.

But he only targets positions the manager asks for.

I dont know whats so difficult to understand there but then I am talking to the master spin doctor of the forum.

Gordon isn't world class player or even showing signs that he could become a top quality player in the Premier League. For some reason Chelsea seem desperate to take a punt on him because he works hard and has a lot of pace. We all watch him on a weekly basis and can see him for what he is: desperately lacking in end product and full of hustle and bustle.

He could turn into a decent player with the right coaching and with better players around him, but there's a reason why almost the entire football world is gobsmacked at Chelsea throwing that money at him. I imagine if he wasn't English they wouldn't be interested in signing him. Players like him are ten a penny; the English tax has trebled his value, luckily for us.
Some people hate Gordon but loved Benitez, you know mate! ?

It’s absolute rubbish that’s what it is. That is not the job of a DOF at all, what the hell is the point in having one if they just buy all the players the manager wants anyway? You are scrambling around desperately once again to justify a failed regime, trying to pin it all on the manager, which is frankly an absolute disgrace. You do not want the same things as us.

…you need to understand the DoF at Everton isn’t the same as a DoF elsewhere.

Nowhere else does the Manager, owner, chairman & DoF bring in their own targets, probably in that order over the Moshiri years.

He is on that pathway, mate.
