There's also an argument it's a bad move for all parties.

It's bad that we lose a young talent, bad that Chelsea overpay for him, and bad for Gordon that he'll get less game time in which to develop.

No idea what I think, by the way. This whole thing is mad. £60 million, FFS.

Definitely not a bad move for us. Even if he vastly improves I can't seeing him being valued 75m or more. We are getting close enough to finished article money.

You may have a point about the other two parties though.

If we get £60m for Gordon that strikes me as incredible business.

He strikes me as a runner. Knocks the ball past defenders and can cover ground. Works hard for the team. But his quality on the ball etc is not really what you'd expect for that money.

I've said that, so knowing our luck he'll bulk up a bit and become the next Gareth Bale, scoring blammos left right and centre and legging defenders for fun.

I'm losing my mind at the reports that Everton are reticent about selling Gordon as they would have to source targets? What If that's true their incompetence is truly astounding like you didn't have targets already? And chelsea have been pursuing this deal for over a week what clown show. With 50 million we can actually sign players with an end product geez Everton stop being daft and exile kenwright please...

I'm not fuming mate its just tedious reading the same suspects crying and shaking over things they know little about.

Its embarassing man - they talk about patience with the manager then they go and call our new DOF who's working within financial restrictions as not being good enough / a fraud / useless etc not even one summer window in.
Off-topic but who is the angry-looking hooligan in your avatar? Looks like a Carling drinker.

It's never nice to see young players moving on because they can't fulfil their ambition here but in this case it seems like too good a deal to turn down. He would have to turn into one hell of a player to make £60m seem like a bad deal. Whether we reinvest it wisely is obviously a different matter entirely.

60m is very very fair. Ridiculous I'm fact. The game is gone, any low placed team just gets any talent picked up by the big teams...

We aren't a big team anymore...

Thanks Bill

What 3 attacking players are you signing for 16.5 mill each mate?
It’s doesn’t have to be 3 players for 16.5m each - the bigger to amount we can get upfront from Chelsea allows us to forge ahead and structure deals for players with higher values than 16.5m.
