Id hope we could add even if we kept Gordon mate, the kid from Ajax and a journey man striker and if Dominic Calvert-Lewin is fit i do mate.

If we can't, and it's keeping as we are or selling to bring in a few forwards?

If we can bring others in who we need, without selling then yeah - not much point selling if it means we bring in Sarr and someone else similar.

But if the choice is stick or twist, I think we have to sell. All comes down to whether we can bring players in we need, if we can, why haven't we? Is it just waiting for Broja or are we on our arse?

Thing is, the contract he's being offered by us is probably relatively in the ball park of what Chelsea is offering.

What leaves me twisted around is he'd rather be absurdly rich at Chelsea than at his boyhood club. I could give two flips about Champions League, if I was insanely wealthy at 21 playing for Everton nothing would have convinced me to leave for a fair bit of time.

At the end of the day it's a job. He'll get paid more, get to play in the CL and have a better chance of making the England squad for the WC. Good luck to him. Even if it doesn't go well for him he'll be better off.

Would rather stick myself mate. To my mind we look competitive and threatening, but not clinical and I think that down to a striker, I don’t think we even need a 20 goal a season one, just a reasonably clinical one like Maupey.

Anything on the market now is going to be way down our list of priorities. We went for Cornet, MGW, maybe Lingarrd etc - we’ve missed out, the reason we got McNeill IMO is modify eke was I for him. Links to the likes of Pedro and Adama, tell me whatever we are bringing in is comping from a limited market. Not sure either improves is or our chances of staying up. While we are likely in a fight for Pedro - not inspiring is it.

The catch to all this is, we sell, try and improve, limited choice, we throw money about and your wearing an Adama shirt to the next home game - it sounds just like us doesn’t it. We’re the worst recruiters in the league and we have a week to build a forward line to keep us up, I don’t trust us and the timeframe, circumstances and market are bad.

Yep defo for sticking now I think about it.

My heart wants Anthony Gordon to stay. But for £60m+, my mind is screaming...

I think Broja and or Gallagher have been the plan all along.

If it gets us Kudus and or Gana we are in a good position.

Centre forward is a real big concern tho.

By stick or twist, I meant if the choice is what we have now (so not bringing anyone in), or having the ability to spend in the market.

A front three of any of McNeil, Gordon, Townsend, Gray, Rondon and Calvert-Lewin for maybe 10-15 games and I dread relegation.

I wouldn't go that far. Or even close to that far really. He's got talent but he's a long way from the finished article, so if we're being offered what is essentially a finished article price I don't think we really have any choice but to accept.
No he's not the finished article - at 21 why would he be? But what he does have is increasingly rare in today's game - the skill, speed and willingness to take players on and go past them, and so to make things happen. In a game of pass, pass, pass, pass, pass it's both refreshing and advantageous to have players with that attribute, and while he's 21 he still has no fear (this is where he is similar to Rooney).

Look at all the other bottlers around getting paid handsomely. This is why he has such strong potential, and this is what Chelsea, Spurs and other see in him. It's a gamble, no-doubt, but he's a standout these days.

He's got everything you look for in a forward.... except his finishing. And that's why it's a very tough decision.

For a lot of players, finishing is a natural ability and only some players get better over time. If he adds goals, he's going to be quality. If he doesn't, he'll still be a good player, but not exceptional.

£60m is probably too much for us to turn down in our current sorry state. But the idea of selling him doesn't sit well with me.

Just seems like people are squinting a lot to try and find an angle to blame the club for this.

Would be bordering on gross negligence to reject that sort of money if the reports are true. You only knock that back if you're convinced you've got a Rooney and he's many things but he isn't that.

Yep still sticking, I don’t see us signing better at this stage if we do - I’ll be surprised. If it was early June I’d prob be more open minded given the lad sounds like he wants the move.

But I don’t think it’s all or nothing either in terms of signings scope, even though I know you are devil’s advocating it! ;)

I'm not disagreeing with any of that though, I'm simply saying finishing ability isn't the only thing he lacks at the moment.
