Yep still sticking, I don’t see us signing better at this stage if we do - I’ll be surprised. But I don’t think it’s all or nothing either, even though I know you are devil’s advocating it! ;)

My opinion is if we can spend £30m+ on a forward or two, and keep Gordon. Great. I say great because I think, like you, this could happen;

Well, the point is we'd need to replace him.

Sell Gordon for £40m, and if we go back to Wolves for Gibbs White, we'd be told £35m+

Hopefully they'd have a few lined up before selling.

If we can't spend unless we sell him, then I think our front three is so bad that basically this;

We'd struggle to stay up with our current front three.

We can't rely on Calvert-Lewin to stay fit.

If we can bring in another couple of strikers then great.

If we can't, and selling Gordon allows us to bring in those players we need, IMO, to ensure the club is competitive enough to avoid another relegation scrap, then it's the game.

It's simple then IMO

If we can sign a decent striker and bring some creativity in, great.

If we can't, roll the dice and sell him and bring some in because I think we're completely on our arse if we try and be competitive in this league with our current attackers.

Would rather stick myself mate. To my mind we look competitive and threatening, but not clinical and I think that down to a striker, I don’t think we even need a 20 goal a season one, just a reasonably clinical one like Maupey.

Anything on the market now is going to be way down our list of priorities. We went for Cornet, MGW, maybe Lingarrd etc - we’ve missed out, the reason we got McNeill IMO is modify eke was I for him. Links to the likes of Pedro and Adama, tell me whatever we are bringing in is comping from a limited market. Not sure either improves is or our chances of staying up. While we are likely in a fight for Pedro - not inspiring is it.

The catch to all this is, we sell, try and improve, limited choice, we throw money about and your wearing an Adama shirt to the next home game - it sounds just like us doesn’t it. We’re the worst recruiters in the league and we have a week to build a forward line to keep us up, I don’t trust us and the timeframe, circumstances and market are bad.

Yep defo for sticking now I think about it.

If as looks now increasingly likely he does go, the only way it can be allowed by the club is if we get Broja on loan with a option agreed for the summer AND get a negotiated agreement for Gallagher at a 30m or thereabouts figure.

The 60m without those wil see us get fleeced for average jobbers

Need to take advantage of just how much Chelsea want him and fix the striker and goals from central mid issues we have. Then we'd have say 30-40m to replace Gordon get a defensive mid and a forward (Pedro, Garner/Gueye, Kudos)

I'd keep him no matter what, but if we are selling we have to ensure we come out of it with 3-4 players 21-23yo with great potential.

Still utterly gutting to lose him mind.

Imagine if someone said to you 12 months ago that we’d receive a £60m bid for Gordon and some posters would be advocating turning it down.

I’m just a bit bemused at people saying this money is supposed to bring two or three quality players in. Quality costs substantial fees usually.

Besides whatever the fee this move is symptom of bigger problems here and once again loads are letting the board off with it.

….if we don’t bring in 2 effective attackers, including a conventional central striker then I fear we’ll go down. It’s a desperate requirement.

The acquisitions have to be effective. Thelwell is paid lots of money to identify the right players. What we have now isn’t good enough and that includes Gordon.

£60m for Gordon should enable the club to bring in quality needed to keep us safe.

I dont work for the club mate therefore I don't know whats happening behind the scenes.

Hence why I dont FUME hard over things I don't have knowledge of.

Others will read the tabloid gossip pages, tweets from other fans who's uncles dog works in FF's canteen and create conspiracies online and wet the bed.

RE Richarlison - we clearly need a replacement but goal scoring wide players who can also play as a striker are hard to come by and are expensive to buy. We were looking at Cornet but couldn't get a deal done due to our financial situation - I imagine once Gordon is gone we'll bring one in.

Actually I don't remember saying you did work for the club but whatever. So glad you don't read gossip or listen to any rumours, but then I do wonder why you spend so much time on the Everton transfer thread because all that is, is transfer rumours and gossip. But whatever..:)

I’m done if we don’t accept £60m for Gordon. That is an absolutely insane price.
If it's indeed true that we turn down anything in excess of 40m, let alone the bones of 60m, well, quite a few people better start seeing some great results on the football field soon or they will be held utterly accountable for their decision.
