To be fair, you look at that selection of midfielders after Rice & Bellingham (Henderson, Phillips, Gallagher) Longstaff has been in better form (you would argue for about 18 months now) than them!

I did think Pope being left out is a bit of an odd one also, i know its only 3rd choice goalie (maybe Johnstone is better around the squad)

I'd also look how weak England are at left back and as a bit of a wild card wonder in Liveremento would of been an option!

I'd say them lot (Longstaff especially) have a fair argument for a good few of our players more than we have over someone like Branthwaite

No chance Longstaff is better than Phillips or Gallagher. Might have a shout to get in over Henderson but it’s not going to happen under Southgate.

I don’t know Johnstone too well but what is his distribution like with his feet? Pope’s is awful which is probably what counts against him
