Was well documented in the athletic and that Newcastle documentary.
He wanted out when Chelsea were interested. Kenwright didn't want Richy and Gordon going in the same window. Chelsea didn't meet the valuation. Unsettled. Newcastle were interested in January. Thelwell agreed a fee. Didn't report for training. Gone.
The lad left in a relegation scrap faster than a rat on the Titanic. That doesn't happen if you're 'happy' at the club.
