Anthony Gordon

The cognitive dissonance with this lad amongst Evertonians is baffling.

Anyone could see he was a talented young player who just needed guidance and good coaching and that's what he's getting now.

We should have sold him a lot more than 40m in all honesty. I remember some on here saying we should sell for peanuts.

I think we undercharged

We can only get what someone will pay at that moment in time. Remember he was absolutely stinking out the place in that last half a season and once the fans stopped his car, we had little chance he was going to knuckle down and get out of that tailspin.

He might go on to be a great player, but he was one without heart to be able to deal with the pressure our situation demanded. In fairness to him he is young and that pressure was probably greater than most have to deal with...ever.

I've said in the past take any player out of our team and put them in another and they will look instantly better (especially a forward) as we were particularly poor in working the ball higher up the pitch. This must have been really frustrating for players like Gordon and so I don't blame him for looking elsewhere, but I don't think it can be said he handled it very well. £40-45 million for a player who has potential but hasn't consistently shown it AND isn't turning up to training isn't a bad fee. He may go on to be worth double or more in the near future but that's all pointless to us if he was never going to be able to show those levels here to make that a reality whilst he was an Everton player.
