Anthony Gordon

Roque Santa Cruz had a good season once…

Im not about to start proclaiming a pace merchant as an amazing player after one decent season.

This is the peak of his career, it’s downhil from here, vault me :p
The desperation of some Blues to continue to claim that Gordon isn't very good in the face of substantial evidence to the contrary is quite odd.

It was clear to anyone with an ounce of knowledge about togger that he was a very talented young player with us, with far too much pressure and expectation on his shoulders, and that he would only get better and better.

He'd be our best player and biggest asset this season if he was still here.

We got £45m for a player that was pretty damn average for Everton and was actively forcing a transfer?

It was great business.
When talented players are inexperienced and young their output is usually average ESPECIALLY when they're playing in a poor team of a basket case club.

The question is whether they have the raw attributes to continue developing and the potential to be a very good player. AG had all that and then some. Yes, his attitude was questionable at times, but the view that he was a poor player and that he'd never amount to anything is so wide of the mark. And he's proving it game by game.

Where did I say this?

You characterized him as pretty damn average and that is, at best, an ignorant take.

He wasn't an Andre Gomes type who'd been hanging around on big wages doing nothing for years. He was a really promising academy product that don't come along very often.

Another total failure from the club.

Erm, but I didn't did I? I said he was average for us. Don't try and twist someone's words to suit your own agenda here.

Imagine we were a competent football club and could actually build something and keep our best players, Gordon, Branthwaite, Richarlison - just taking the last couple of years alone.

We will never get anywhere continuing to sell our best players.

How many times will people fall for, the we need to sell and use the money to reinvest, never reinvest or do it on the cheap, continue to loose money and get progressively worse.

It starts with ...............- (insert name) is agitating for a move.

Yes, I said he was average for us, how can you deny that? I never said he wouldn't or couldn't get any better as you are trying to suggest I did.

Average Everton player, desperate to leave, sold for £45m whilst the club struggled financially. No one can complain about that deal.
What a terribly weak argument.

I've already explained how such a characterization is ignorant and you know it is. And no one is complaining about the deal. People are dumbfounded by Blues claiming that AG wasn't very good and by the situation that we were forced to sell an asset that hadn't reached its full potential.

Don't be so sensitive to someone calling you out on your nonsense - it's a forum.

But it's not nonsense, he was average for us? The team sucked but that's more reason to shine if you're any good.

3 goals 0 assists for us before his Jan move, 4 goals 2 assists the season before. They're worse numbers than the likes of Harrison and McNeil are getting in a Sean Dyche team.
