Anthony Gordon

But it's not nonsense, he was average for us? The team sucked but that's more reason to shine if you're any good.

3 goals 0 assists for us before his Jan move, 4 goals 2 assists the season before. They're worse numbers than the likes of Harrison and McNeil are getting in a Sean Dyche team.
It is nonsense. Disingenuous nonsense. Just go back and re-read my posts until you can see my point.

Your original post was this:

When talented players are inexperienced and young their output is usually average ESPECIALLY when they're playing in a poor team of a basket case club.

The question is whether they have the raw attributes to continue developing and the potential to be a very good player. AG had all that and then some. Yes, his attitude was questionable at times, but the view that he was a poor player and that he'd never amount to anything is so wide of the mark. And he's proving it game by game.

Of which you address my first point normally, but then go on to full on lie towards the end.

Just plain recency bias at its finest.

The desperation of some Blues to continue to claim that Gordon isn't very good in the face of substantial evidence to the contrary is quite odd.

It was clear to anyone with an ounce of knowledge about togger that he was a very talented young player with us, with far too much pressure and expectation on his shoulders, and that he would only get better and better.

He'd be our best player and biggest asset this season if he was still here.

No desperation whatsoever, I barely even give a toss about football these days let alone enough to talk smack about some ex player just because he left Everton. If I had a quid for every time football fans have MASSIVELY overrated footballers based on one good season I'd be a millionaire.

Yes he may well have been our best player if he had stayed, that doesn't mean he's going to be a top player, it means he'd be the best player in an absolutely woeful squad. He is a pace merchant and I've seen nothing from him which suggests he will go on to play for a top club.

He also has an over inflated opinion of himself, which would also potentially put top managers off too, as they’re looking at attitude, how a player would blend into their squad and aptitude too.

Thank you, I feel like I've taken crazy pills reading some posts saying he was anything like this for those last six months for us.

He phoned it in big time til he got his move.

He wasn't productive when playing for us but his talent was obvious. He was very young and raw and this season it looks like he's kicked on and started to fulfil his potential. But obviously still to be seen if this is a one season wonder or whether he can consistently do it season after season.

Is it really any surprise that he's performing better since he's left Everton though? we're an absolute basket case of a club..
If he was still here he'd be playing 10 min a month behind Ashley Young and being asked to mainly defend anyway. It's not the players fault for this.

Also he scored some goals for us but looked like the ball was a foreign object most the time - out of 4 goals 3 were either deflected or surprisingly weak shots, hes now addressed that it seems and is a lot more consistent in the final third. We'll see if he kicks off more though, Newcastle will have higher expectations than "run at them a bit lad".

It was pretty obvious he had loads of ability, we pretended he couldn't run to make us feel better.

Was a decent deal for all at the time, but it would be healthier if the gammons just admitted they were wrong about him and moved forward with growth
Wrong time for him here to progress really, so in that sense it's a good transfer for everyone. Not even in a "what could have been way", just accept he's gone, we got decent money, move on, let the lad live his life.
