Anthony Gordon

All I'll say is this;

It doesn't shock me at all if he's bitter

I'd be bitter, and if we're honest with ourselves we all would

Once people are surrounding your car in a threatening manner for the crime of losing a football match, then it's going to put a chip on your shoulder

He's young and maybe time will heal the wounds, but right now I fully expect him to bury us in every interview and I don't really blame him

The supporters crossed a line with those antics. That's stuff you don't want to see

Saying he "kept us up" is posturing from someone with an axe to grind. He certainly contributed last season and he was in Player of the Season discussion IMO, but he wasn't the sole reason we stayed up

Richarlison has more of a claim to making that argument, but he would never, because we were actually nice to him on the way out
I'm just gutted they never dragged him out the car.

Big difference with that last bit there mate.

The fans were nice to Richarlison on the way out and still are, due to the fact, that he knew he was off at the end of the season and could`ve very easily have taken his foot off the gas. Instead, he was the complete opposite, went into battle for the club and the fans and played through injuries and it became his mission to keep us up.

Gordon played his part too, but his contribution was nowhere that of Richarlison and then this season turned into a complete bellend and effectively went on strike, to force his move.

In ten years time no one will ever remember Anthony Gordon ever played for Everton, where as Richarlison will never be forgotten.

We have a history of young players leaving our club, not nice for the fans like, but you have to ask yourself, why does it keep on happening ? Can't be just the players, not all of them anyway.
I don’t think we have a history more than anyone else, it’s very rare that a young player will come through the ranks and be exactly right for the squad of the club they’re at. You can look at Hibbert, Osman, Coleman, Holgate, Davies, Calvert-Lewin, they’re all players who either came through our system or were signed young but had no real times where they were that much better or worse than our squad so it made sense for them to stay.

Rooney is the only one who was genuinely too good for us and he went for a record fee for a teenager at the time and then you’ve had the likes of Barkley, Jeffers and now Gordon who felt like they were bigger than us but history will prove would’ve been better off staying. Oh and John Stones tbf

There’s also a tonne of lads who never quite made it as good enough like Galloway, Browning etc.
