reading this thread and realized alcaraz played on the right side today just as I read your post. I can only remember him playing left before for us, he linked so well with seamus today. Always on the move, positional sense was great and his passing between their lines was fantastic.

Think he's played one or two games with Distin (like vs Swansea) and been on the right then but the bulk of his games have been with Stones and as the senior partner he has shifted over. Perhaps playing on the "wrong" side affects his positional sense a bit because as you say he was very good in that respect today.

He is by far our best CB for heading, even his own goal agains S'ton was lovely skill

Another clean sheet and Alcaraz is good on the ball. Only doubt I have is we have a few midweek games and hopefully his muscle fatigue won't return.

Jury is still well and truly out on him, one good performance for us means sweet fa. I hope he becomes a rock at the back but he's been shakey more often than solid since he joined. Plus, villa were muck going forward and he was rarely put under pressure on the deck

Had a great game today, as they all did. But looked superb at times, some great passing, control and play on the ball, good positioning and some great tackles as well. Quality.
May be enough to start a shift in my mentality about him, as long as he can play more than a couple of games this season.

Nothin' on Stones but he looked adequate if nothing else today; convincing. I'm happy to see him in the royal blue like.

Technically a good player, but an awful defender when it comes to the crunch.

He will get caught out of position and always seems to be desperate in the end. I stand by what I said before he played a minute for us, I don't rate him.

He has not had a particular partnership with anyone yet but that shows he has experience and adaptability I guess, was really annoyed about that own goal cause fans are so negative sometimes
