Oh ffs he was under absolutely no pressure today from a Villa side who hardly got in to our half and Benteke who was shockingly bad.

Are people really saying he was brilliant, is class, etc. ? He had one thing to do from memory which, granted, he did well (header over our own bar defending against Benteke).

When some actual defending is required he crumbles and can only play one game every 6 months due to 'muscle fatigue'.

How does it feel to be frustrated by polarised, over the top assessment of a player?
 
He did do what was asked of him today well, if he had made some bad mistakes you can be sure he wold be getting slated, so credit to him, came in and played his part in a good victory and first clean sheet for a while
 

Not going to go overboard on praise out of surprise of him not having a stroke and scoring 16 own goals because apart from the occasional blip I've been fairly impressed with him, Stoke away and Southampton at home last year come to mind. Martinez reckoned that if he had have stayed fit the year Wigan went down he would've kept them up so he obviously rates him. Really composed on the ball too. Jury is still out at the moment but I think a lot of people have given him a hard time when quite frankly it was undeserved.

Whilst it is true to say he hadn't much to do today, what little he had to do he did well.

A few games like that will build his confidence up and as he is going to be our CB for the rest of this calendar year by the looks of things...at least....then the least we can do is give him a bit of praise and not knock him when he does have a good game.

He is there until Stones comes back so let's see how he plays during an extended run before doing that Everton thing and ripping the back out of the bloke.
