Antolin Alcaraz

I loved the way he had the football, then passed it, and the ball went to an everton player. I havent seen that for ages. The other centre half was doing the same. I had to rub my eyes. All this whilst our midfield were having a game of musical statues with the music off.

Glad someone else has picked up on that, I've seldom seen an Everton midfield as static as ours. Absolutely no one is moving into space to receive the ball. You can see how team's close us out so easily.

Never watched the game but seeing he came on at halftime. I'm guessing Stoke attempted to defend the lead and not go for the kill.

Alcaraz technically is a good footballer, but when it comes to the crunch he can't defend for toffee.

Said it from the off and he is yet to prove me wrong. Hopefully after the summer he is gone.

Jags got injured.

Came on looked good, won everything in the air, wasnt properly tested defensively but looked a lot more solid and assured than jags or distin have

Sad, but I'll give credit where it is due, alcaraz was motm for me today. Says far more about the fact that everyone else had multiple very poor moments, but things could have fallen apart when we lost Howard and jags at half. But they didn't and I believe he was a big part of it.

Baines, stones, and Barry also had a few good moments, but everyone else should be embarrassed with their game.

Also the players who aren't going to receive the ball aren't moving around trying to drag the defence out of position. How many times do we have players shooting from the edge of the box but it gets blocked, if players were moving off the ball there may be space to take a shot.

One of the few positives from today. Our players feel comfortable running away from him into space when he has possession because he's comfortable on the ball, whereas players have to move towards Jags/Distin because they're terrible passers.

Seems he is one of those players who had one really awful game early on in his Everton career, and that is what he will be judged on for all eternity. Had a nightmare like the rest of the defence in the Anfield Derby last season, and that inexplicable own goal at Southampton. He's been fine the rest of the time he's played for us. Comfortable on the ball like Stones, so actually comfortable taking the ball off the keeper and starting attacks from the back, and more than solid enough defensively.

I cant believe there are people who are in one breathe slating how bad Jagielka and Distin have been this season and how many goals they've cost us...but still dont want Alcaraz anywhere near the team.
