What the actual?!?

Coming from you this is phenomenal. Nobody reads your essays pal. Do one.

Haha. Didn't really address that one. What have my 'essays' got to do with anything? (I understand posts over 500 words might be too difficult for you mate) At least they had an aim and an intended purpose, whether you agreed with them or not - they were trying to say something. What did your post have to offer? He's a good player. You aren't really giving him, or the signing, a chance. And so what you said was pointless and stupid.

I agree with those pointing out why Alcaraz was brought in. Pretty sure the club thought Heitinga was gone, hopefully will be in January. Didn't notice him playing at Wigan not arsed researching so not going to judge him until he's fit and gets a chance.

Distin gets another year for me anyway. He defies aging in a way we haven't seen since Linford Christie was breaking records in his thirties. Except without the blood doping and stuff.

Duffy maybe getting another loan in this year and then judged if he can replace Heitinga in first team contention. Stones out on loan next year. Leaves us with 4 first team quality CBs and one young one out on loan hopefully at a decent standard.

The Birdman does appear to have maintenance issues, no doubt about that. Hopefully, this extended enforced lay-off will do the trick for a full recovery. The EPL is a grind and we need him fit and able when the weather turns and our other players need rotation.

We have moaned and moaned about not having a squad, once we get one people still moan! Haha..

Alcaraz was free, I have no doubt Martinez wanted....
1: someone he new, new how to play out from the back "his way" and
2: A replacement for Heitinga who I'm sure he thought would go in the summer.

I'm happy with all the signings he made tbh, and the fact we finally have a squad!

Your not suggesting Duffy as part of the 4 over stones are you?

Duffy will not break into our first team. He could well be one of those jags type who after developing his game away from the club over a number of years ends up back...

Next year will still be Distin jags alcaraz and stones. We may if Duffy and Heitinga move on see a new signing at CB.

Exactly right. There is not one part of that post to disagree with.

Doubt it. 1 year contract (I think). Needs to prove his worth yet.

I was thinking Stones might benefit a longer loan spell as part of his development if that is this season then great, but if it ends up being next season it would be preferable to have Duffy and Alcaraz as back up instead of signing another stop gap.

Admittedly I'm taking the more optimistic view that Duffy will show enough on his loans etc to be in contention as able deputy should Father Time catch up with Distin or Jags knee blow out. If Duffy is crap he will be shipped out, if Alcaraz is the next Per Koldrup of mystery injuries and Heitinga is off the books too we need to keep Stones here and add another, preferably a leftie.

I suppose if the question is do I think Stones is better than Duffy then based on the pretty limited information yes I do. I believe he is the better prospect and more likely to make it with us. I won't discount Duffy at all but his chances of coming through with us are slimmer.

Ah ok - carry on.

Our Physio on the news that he will get plenty of overtime next season as well.

Alcarez

So, if fit who did think he would replace, challenge for a spot or cover for?

With Stones eventually moving into the centre and having Duffy, how did RM think the aged, injury plagued former colleague would fit in?
In a time of tight wallets and especially at Everton it just seems a waste of money that would be better served topping up the likes of Baines salary with....
