Antolin Alcaraz

I still like him, but he's clearly not a viable option for every opponent. Against City and Liverpool he was shocking. But in his other appearances he was really good.

His pace is a problem but there's no doubt that he's sharp in the head and excellent on the ball.

He was really good against Southampton???

Rufus???

Good cover but I'd rather play Barkley in goal than play him against pacey counter attacking teams, I've seen glaciers more mobile than him

He's quite good at passing and has bags of composure, but he's a bit [Poor language removed] at defending really. He'll do for a squad option against weaker sides next season, though, especially in Europe. The real problem is going to be replacing Distin.

Not many actually have a top class 4th choice centre back. In fact, does anyone?

He'll do

Looking at likes of Kolo Toure, Lescott, Ivanovic, Johnny Evans, Kaboul, Vermaelen. They are better than Alcaraz for me, but I see the point.

I am confused. Has Alcaraz been involved in a game we haven't lost?

The man gives me a heart attack whenever someone runs at him, startling lack of pace shows up against pacey strikers and he doesn't recover well like Distin and Jags. I just can't take to him although my opinion could still be swayed if he has a good run of games and starts to improve. maybe his lack of match fitness has played its' part.

Still don't think he's current Everton quality.

Personally on the basis of this season i think he is what he is.
A back up centre half who isnt really that good compared to the first choice ones but (IF) he keeps himself fit and can do a decent job.

He didnt cost anything, his wages are reletively low and you would like to think he is 4th choice anyway so no real need to complain about him.

Would like to see him not get a new contract and roberto line someone else up to replace him after next season.

I have to disagree 4th choice or not he has cost us valuable points this season, just because he is back up doesn't exclude him from criticism when he plays badly.

So has John Stones. So has Osman, So had naismith. That is if you want to get down to the bare bones of the matter.
But i am talking as an inexpensive back up who seemed to have a decent run in the team a few months ago prior to the derby. I am not saying he is fantastic, just simply that for the money involved he isnt that bad.

Only real critisism i have of the guy is that he is injured most of the time and when he does play, that injures him again.

We shall agree to disagree then, like I say, I've not completely written him off just think he comes in the 'must do better' bracket.

Also Ossie and Nais get their fair share of flack too, Stones we accept his mistakes because of his age.
