I think digne could have been replaced we just messed it up again.
He could have been although he is a very good player. If we wanted to sell him for financial reasons in the summer fine.

Instead we forced him out and rushed it. We can’t have been scouting left backs for long, it was one of the last positions we needed fixing.

Could have been done but the way we did it, meant it shouldn’t have been done. Rafael should have been told to get on with it until the summer and we’d replace him then.

For £15/20 odd million would have tried to sign Aaron Hickey at Bologna, would have been far more ready than who we brought in.

This lad is Egyptian, isn't he? One would swear he was Russian given how he appears to be persona non grata at the club these days.
It’s just a damning indictment of the club’s decision makers. The really annoying thing is they did the exact same with Josh King the season before. Did we learn nothing? Pointless, pointless signing with no thought or strategy behind it. Scatterbrained madness prevails.

We're in a relegation battle now precisely because £40M was spent in January to bring in 5 players and none of them apart from VDB appear good enough to get a game...and he's not going to prove the difference.

January may have laid the basis for relegation rather than avoided it.

If we had that transfer window over again I'd have bought a good-to-go RB a CB and a DMF. We'd now have been midtable.
And the one that is good enough, isn’t going to put his body on the line if it risks an injury when he’s going back to United at the end of the season and will have the chance of a fresh start under a new coach.

Mykolenko eh....these aged well :p

Why are the football authorities more concerned with ridiculous notions as 'Financial Fair Play' when they should be putting more scrutiny into deals like this which are the real root of corruption in football.

There is absolutely no way we signed El Ghazi for footballing reasons and there is also no way he isn't good enough to at least warranty one start in this squad. Something about this whole deal stinks to high heaven and Moshiri needs sanctioning for allowing it to happen
