Confirmed Signing Anwar El Ghazi

Yes Dave and both Gordon and Dobbin can play wide left as can Iwobi allegedly .
But what does that have to do with my answer that Gray can - with El Ghazi's arrival - more readily be played as a false nine or out and out striker if nned be?

It's not replication, it's having adaptable players up front that hands us options if DCL and Richarlison are still no shows.

Ok, so granted he isn’t very good. But he is a loan signing as cover for injuries. If he doesn’t do well he goes back to Villa in the summer. Why are we acting like we are signing him for 50million on a 9 year contract? If he comes here and suddenly discovers form then fantastic, if not then no real harm done as we are not stuck with him. Am I missing something?

I think ElGhazi is a better player than the views about him on here. He is an honest player and when playing on the left he is very good at cutting into the centre and creating an opportunity. I think he is a decent squad player but my big fear for Everton is if this is to facilitate the sale of Richy in the summer or even this window. PSG will need to replace Mbappe when he leaves in the summer. I wouldn't be relying on ElGhazi's defending qualities but if he is just a 5 month loan and is only costing the wages and a small loan fee then he isn't the worst player for the squad. The sooner u guys get your new stadium and shift a lot of the deadwood the better. It does appear there is a tight grip on the wallet at the moment. A new fresh manager that likes to play football e.g. Potter and a decent transfer kitty and getting rid of about 8 to 10 players and the future will be rosy which will coincide nicely with the majority of your neighbour's stars entering the twilight of their careers and having lost a yard or 2 of pace.

Good luck for the rest of the season
Cheers. Yeah, we do have a lot of deadwood to shift, problem is, we seem intent of replacing that deadwood with more of the same.

Re the bit in bold, you sound like you’ve more of a clue than the muppets here. It’s not that difficult is it. Fancy a job as director of football?

What about that statue your man had us waste a wage packet on?

I guess that is just Benitez pissing away wages now if you want to claim we all of a sudden don't actually have 6 wingers but instead under your maths we now have 6 strikers for one position

Dom
Richarlison
Rondon
Tosun
Simms
Dobbin
Gray

Whichever way you want to cut this Dave it still doesn't add up to wisely spending money and is clearly bringing in a player we don't actually need.

I don't know how to make this clearer, this fee and wage should have been spent on a position where we need players. I don’t suppose El Ghazi plays centre back does he, or defensive midfield?

I don't think there were any real negotiations.
Gray was happy with the standardized contract, Everton happy with the low fee. So yeah. Benitez is solely responsible for the smart business we did there. Brands only printed out the contract and gave the pen to Gray. It's irrelevant.

If you compare that to what Brands did in his tenure here... Well...

You didn't spot that one either.
lol

So Dave with this signing we either have 6 wingers and 4 strikers or we now have 4 wingers and 6 strikers. We play with 2 wingers and 1 striker so thats 3 positions for the 10 players.

It's a terrible waste of limited wage space for a player that isn't even nailed on to walk in and take a starting spot.
