I'm glad we won, just as I'm glad that we won the last two league games, but this stinks to high heaven. We've been utterly awful all season, under both Koeman and Unsworth, yet the moment Allardyce is all but confirmed we start playing like this squad should have been all year.

There's no way on earth he would have done much tactically in that time. I mean he wasn't even officially the manager for the first game and didn't travel to this one. It's also hard to reason that it's all down to confidence, because if experienced international players can have such a boost to their confidence in one week that they go from playing like League 1 players to their normal level then they need to ask questions of themselves.

There's just something about this miraculous transformation that doesn't sit right with me whatsoever.

Like myself
I never gamble
10 Euro in a last man standing ( survivor ) once every 6/7 weeks is my lot.
My father told me if you see a Mercedes and a pushbike outside a bookies with only 2 people in it , it’s fairly certain the bookie owns the Merc

..it’s about the entertainment, Brian. People pay to the cinema but they don’t expect a return. Nobody doubts the bookie wins but it’s a bit of fun for most people as long as you don’t get carried away.

Weird isnt it?

As for Sunday, well, lets see.........
Eternal optimist, even despite their "seventh heaven" show yesterday (if I see one more feckin' Facebook post with that in it I swear I'll punch the cat). Fingers crossed but expecting the worst. Reckon we might beat them in Jan though. ;)

Speaking of an utter trumpet, your moaning about its a great reason to just throw away goals. I GUARANTEE you the manager is saying the same thing, so you can sit there and moan about it, but only one of us has the right view of it, and its the same one managers view it with.

Taking a shot from that angle when you have a wide open teammate sitting at the 6 yard box is horrible, but no youd rather support that because you would prefer to curse us to the continued horribleness that has been this season, rather than hold people accountable. Thank you for confirming how little you have to add to anything.

No mate, but I think that slaying a lad who is on a hat-trick in an utterly meaningless game is at best stupid.

I add that little to anything though put us on block kid. No skin off my nose like.

In the meantime revel in the fact you share the same view as professional managers, but yeah a young kid not squaring a ball is the main reason we where gash under koeman...

Our players have hidden by excuses no centre forward. Then an unsettled manager - Koeman. Then an interim manager - unsworth.
In comparison look how Watford players have performed despite the uncertainty regarding silva.
Yes the new manager has brought stability and organisation, but the players have thrown in the towel far too many times this season. I like you am mystified by the sudden change.

Watching the kids do so well brings a warm glow and a serene smile.
And if you enjoyed their efforts tonight, and who didn’t, there’s a livestream of tomorrow’s Youth Cup match at Goodison Everton u18 v Ipswich U18. 7pm.
I’d expect them to make sure that all the youngsters eligible are back in time to play so that’s Gordon, Denny and Hornby who featured tonight, Michael Collins and Duke-McKenna who were on the bench , plus a couple more good young prospects in defender Lewis Gibson and attacker Manasse Mampala. Should be a a good game and always interesting to see which ones cope best with the wide spaces of Goodison. Booing not allowed .

I don't really think you can say that on this performance/game tonight mate, and I don't think the team that started tonight would have done much better against Atalanta and Lyon.

There was no pressure on us, and apart from the first 30 mins it was actually a poor game, and apart from Vlasic's goal we were (IMO) pretty poor in that second half, it was 2 poor Europa league teams playing for a bit of pride.

Great for the young lads to get a run-out, and they did well.

Not going by this performance at all, Lou.

Just the whole thing in general.

The whole campaign was shambolic, even in the qualifying rounds where one half of football versus Hajduk Split was the only time we looked like a proper team.

Tonight just serves to illustrate how different it all might have been.

We are so, so much better than we showed in those first five group games.

Which is why I say we sold ourselves short in them.

Criminally so.

Most of today's team didn't feature under Koeman.

There was more than one gunman in Dallas, Bruce....

As pleasing as the result was tonight, what a great advertisement for our academy again. If you are talented enough and work hard, there is a pathway to the first team. How many clubs can say that in the top 10 of the premier league? Interesting, one of my son’s mates has decided to go to Everton despite a lot of interest from clubs around here. He’s only 7, when I asked him why he said his dad was so impressed by the youth set up at finch farm and that they give youngsters a chance. Tonight once again (with the number of youngsters selected) reinforced what a great product we can offer.

We all know that once they have had enough of Big Sam the same will happen as did earlier this season and at the end of Martinez. Bunch of shithouses.
