When I first listened I thought he meant someone high up in the BBC, so one of his bosses, which is why he then spoke about it. And then I thought what you have just suggested.I’d be VERY interested to know who the person was who sent their WhatsApp conversation with Kenwright to Wright on the morning of the Saints game.
Wright claims it was from someone “very high up”, who knows Kenwright very well. At first I thought he meant it was someone from within Everton, but on rewatching, Wright doesn’t explicitly say that, though it could have been.
I won’t name names, but if it wasn’t from someone within EFC, there is a very likely candidate who it could have been, who was on the board at Arsenal during Wright’s time there, who is also a well known friend of Kenwright.
No matter who it came from, they would have known that Wright was on MOTD that evening, and it could be seen as an extremely cynical and provocative way for the EFC board to get their “narrative” across on live national TV.
I think there could be even more to this, and Wright perhaps knows even more than he’s letting on, as he seemed genuinely gutted that he’d potentially been lied to.
What an absolute farce this circus is turning into.
But I doubt we will ever know. All we are clear of, is that in this case Bill has apparently spread the information and someone high profile who has then shared it on national Tv now has enough belief that he was lied to he has had to come out and make a statement apologising.
