Araz Abdullayev

Hell, if I had realized that grainy cellphone pics of a guy, who, let's be honest here, must really hope this "fame and riches through football" thing works out if he wants to get laid, would be so popular, I would have just posted the link to the 8 other pics from Abdullaev's visit to Liverpool.
Behold some more Abdullaev looking vaguely amused/perplexed by Everton's physio, the reserves' locker room and several Liverpool landmarks (btw, are those spots really the must see places for tourists?)

To try clearing a few things up:
To the best of my knowledge, this is the latest status update from a reliable source:
Араз Абдуллаев подписал соглашение с Эвертоном
29 June 2010 20:45
Как удалось узнать azerisport.com, азербайджанский футболист Араз Абдуллаев подписал предварительное соглашение с «Эвертоном». Однако ближайшие полгода 18-летний полузащитник, скорее всего, проведет на правах аренды в «Нефтчи».
Almost literal translation:
Araz Abdullaev has signed a contract with Everton. Azerisports.com understands that the Azerbaijani footballer Araz Abdullaev has signed a pre-contract with Everton. However, in all likelihood the 18 year old midfielder will spend the next half-year on loan at Naftchi.
The bits in bold contradict themselves. That's why I wrote " has either been bought and loaned back for 6 months or has preliminary contract on the condition he qualifies for a visa". In any case, it's highly unlikely that he will be playing for Everton in the immediate future.

If his manager really said that "We only want the best for Abdullyaev... We do not intend to profit from his transfer - in fact we don't need a single manat from this transfer" then what a bloke... Sounds good, playing u21's when he's 17 must mean something?? (even if it is for azerbajan )

Eh, sounds nice, doesn't it? The part I've cut out had him insist on Abdullyaev continuing his education etc. But football in Eastern Europe (well, not only, but let's not go there) is firmly in the hands of unsavory characters and the president of Naftchi (who was the author of this particular quote) has quite a seedy reputation. I certainly would not take it too seriously. Oh, and Abdullaev did not only play u21's when he was 17, he played for the men's team as well.

All good with the signing of these young players and this lad looks like he has a lot of promise, if we sign Scheeps as well i would be very pleeased, and hopefully we woul dhave alittle more in the thank for a more established signing or two.

Not to mention we havnt even tapped the loan market yet.

Looks like he's deffo coming - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1291589/Everton-close-Azerbaijan-wonderkid-Araz-Abdullayev.html

Everton are closing on a deal for teenage Azerbaijan midfielder Araz Abdullayev.

The 18-year-old from Neftchi Baku made his international debut at 16 and shot to prominence after scoring against Scotland U21s.

He has had trials with Rubin Kazan and in Italy but is hoping to join Everton subject to a work permit after being shown around the club last month.

Everton, meanwhile, remain keen on a permanent deal for LA Galaxy's Landon Donovan.

:D another U21 international.

As they say at Maccy D's

I'm loving it!

Looks like he's not coming immediately though. We have an exclusivity clause, meaning first option in the next two years to sign him.

Looks like they'll let him stay out and get games first.

We wouldnt get a work permit at the current moment because he has only played 2 internationals in 2 years. He needs to play 75% of there games over the next 2 years for us to be able to get him or will need to be taken to a tribunal like Adebayor last season.

He's still only 18 though mind, and you're right. Even if he gets injured though (and doesn't manage the full 75%) I think they might get through the tribunal route on an "exceptional talent" argument.

He's his countries youngest ever international for one......

This is great to see we really do have another generation breaking to, additionaly these young lads pad out the squad in the here and now which means we wont have the probs with injuries etc we have had for the last two seasons. I think if Utd have proven anything over the last ten years is that having a big squad can get you up to an extra 10 points a season.

This lad is a wide player by all accounts which is hearting and badly needed, i think the club feel he has a lot of promise given that it seems to have been a bit of a administrative nightmare to try and get him here, i beleive he had mega hassle even getting a visiting permit even to have his medical done here.

Next up Bob Schepps who i think could be the pick of the bunch.

Production line.

People are saying blah blah blah "we need to show Arteta and Pienaar we mean business now"...

Well that is showing them we mean business... because would you sign a 4 or 5 year contract and think hang on - what happens in 2 or 3 years - is the squad going to keep developing?

Of course so. And getting these U21 kids in and having the likes of Rodwell signing and saying to the others... it's an incentive to sign to them

Neiler, getting the visiting permit difficulty, I don't think is anything to do with actually getting him a work permit and any difficulty there.

Its the middle of the summer, peak tourist season and this causes a backlog.

I had to get someone one only this week and had to write to a supporting letter, and it took two weeks to arrive from the British Embassy - only arriving 6 hours before the flight out over here to see me.

When it comes to getting him a work permit, I don't think there will be too many problems due to the "exceptional talent" point and he's their youngest ever international.

While I love the club for purchasing young talents that might become big stars or great footballers in the future, I still think we need to strengthen the first 11 or at least improve our bench so we're not so vulnerable to injuries like we were last season. Keep on bringing young talents in, but we do need more firstteam players as well to really challenge for CL & EL spots. If we don't get those players in, I fear we might loose pace against our competitors that will be hard for us to take back.

Our current squad is already good enough to be competing for 4th spot next season.

Lets hope so mate!

The Obinna farce really annoyed me at the time! I remember Da Silva and his Malaga adventours to.

I think this Schepers kid is going to be a hot prospect too hope he does well in Scotland.
