Hope you mean braces there mate/

Wearing Suspenders with Shorts would definitely raise a few eyebrows, apart from @Bungle since this is normal dress for him.

Mate, I've read @fatshark 's comment a few times and I'm still struggling to see what his problem is with the German attire, it's close to what I've worn to work today.

We have more in common with Germany than pretty much anyone else in Europe. Which in itself is quite ironic.

Except music and humour. Both of which they are pants at.

I don't think it's 'dangerous' to call all Germans humourless sunbed stealing bastards anymore than it is for Germans to call us fat umbroshirt wearing bastards with bad teeth.

Who cares.

Depends what the generalisation is doesn't it? All Germans are anti-semetic, or workshy thieves or religious nutcases isn't quite so harmless, is it?

For what it's worth, I read a study yesterday from a bloke who had looked at 90,000+ people from a few dozen countries to see whether nationality contributed to major personality differences. He found it accounted for perhaps 12%, which was the same amount as can be attributed to the company you work for.

The truth is the Brits and the Germans are very similar in many ways.

Love the Germans myself. They're much more well behaved on holidays, too. They have all the best qualities of the English but far more genteel and no-BS.

*facepalm*

thanks Degs, I do mean braces, not the naughty item. Ah damn, too fast, image already popped into my head.

Just taken a selfie for you mate, Hi x

Reckon my problem is I am short about 6 pints of fine Deutsche wiessbier in my belly.

That is an uncanny resemblance to Suarez...
Degs promised suspenders? Those as I have recently discovered are Braces.

How very dare you!!

As for Germany anyway, I wouldn't mind visiting and they make some great cars. I've never met a real life German to talk to, I'm sure they're fine. My friend who's Danish absolutely hates them though, and she's quite fit, so I just agree with her.

40 posts in & no mention of a chippy?

Germans are an odd breed in my experience, very straight laced, very dour, uber efficient, but with lives that I consider to be incredibly boring. Their way of life is simple, organised & dull imo. The war has no bearing of my view of them, it has no relevance to our relationship as Nations either imho.

I think it does.

Whilst Germans today can never be blamed for what their grandfathers and great grandfathers did, as a country they should never be allowed to forget which it seems like they are trying to do.

Odd breed is right, but disagree with a lot of the rest...

I think the line you are looking for is ICH BIN SUPER GEIL. You're welcome.

I've only been to Germany twice and it was work related, so i never done the tourist bit. But will plan to go this winter for a bit of Xmas market action.

I do like the food, its a bit " What meat do you want with your meat? "

A vegetarians nightmare.

What? How do you want them to remember? Should we pop over every few months and give a real talking to a German about the stains on their history?
Or would one way of remembering and honouring what happened be by becoming central to a European Union which has increased understanding between nations, and allowed free traffic of people regardless of race or nationality within its borders. Its many museums and memorials? The dedicating of most history in school to it?

How are they forgetting? Or do you just want them to feel guilty constantly?
