Are Leicester now a bigger club than us??

We have far better history, they have far better present. History is where you have been, present is where you are going, so maybe they are bigger and definitely better today!

I say this because today while shopping in the metro centre Newcastle I counted 6 kids in Leicester tops and no Everton tops in sight.

Now, before everyone gets angry and start giving me a history lesson I know in my life time I've seen Everton win more trophies than Leicester. But, if you look from the start of the Premiership we have won the FA cup while they have won the league and two league cups.

So they win the recent history and are now in the Champions league, something we haven't achieved in our history.

Turnover wise no doubt with winning the league and being in the Champions league next season they will surpass us in the financial stakes as well.

Fanwise is going to be a tough one but according to my older brother who lives in the far east he has commented on how big Leicester promote themselves ( club shop in Bangkok airport etc ) with them winning the league, they will have a new generation of supporters.

So, are they?

Flagging this.......

They are currently flavour of the month but a week is a long time in football and I predict this time next season they will be mid table at best and largely go the way Blackburn did after they had their 15 minutes of fame in the mid 90s.
Having said that we are a smaller club than them right now because of our lengthy trophy draught, lack of modern Stadium and never have competed in the Champions league

Good luck to Leicester. Well done and yes I'm very jealous of their achievements.

But I really think they are in for a tough season.

Keeping hold of top players who will be demanding new contracts, recruiting quality additions, fans expectations and the demand of playing the extra games in the spotlight of the Champion's League is certainly going to be very challenging for them.

Those same kids will be wearing Man City tops this time next year.

Bigger? No. Better? Yes. There are loads of ways to argue a club being big. Didn't we make the top 20 list of football brands not so long ago? Sure I have a respect for History but it doesn't fix the current situation. All I know is our recent history and our present hasn't been good enough. For me a big club has that respectable fear, that could easily be lost on Leicester next year as it did Chelsea this year.
