These days I generally know my limits and can stick to them. Completely different story in my 20s (I'm 42 now). Nowadays it's also good that on the rare occasions I do go over the limit, I'm a much less boisterous drunk than 20 years ago due probably to much lower energy levels. This saves me a lot of bother lol

Nowadays if I drink more than 2 pints on a work night then I'll sleep badly and have a headache the next day. If I drink more than 5 pints on any night then I generally need 1-2 days to fully get over it.

It's a bit like Sick boy's universal theory of life. You get old, you can't hack it any more and that's it.

I imagine she wasn't :

People are always like ‘I get worse hangovers than when I was younger’ but personally don’t really notice a huge difference. Think it’s a bit of a psychological thing and also generally having more responsibilities and having to do stuff as an adult.
Probably the worst hangover I had was when I was 17 after taking out half my schoolmates by doing a mad stumble across a dance floor and blocking a toilet with spew the night before. People still say to this day that was the most steaming they’ve ever seen anyone which, I’m not gonna lie, makes me slightly proud.
Also find if I fester in bed last 10 I start getting anxious cos I feel I should be doing something instead of being able to lie in bed till 6pm and not giving a toss.

We're all proud of you for that.

Nail on the head here. When I was younger, I had an ability to sleep most of the day and would wake up, without many responsibilities, and would eat rubbish.

Now, my body clock has a terrible tendency to wake me up between 5am and 6am every day for a day with my children and other responsibilities.

Hangovers aren't worse - we just now have to wake up, suffer them and get on with life.

My worst was 89 in the Canaries when I met up with some Finnish soldiers and we all went on Tequila slammers - never touched Tequila again

They are worse for me , trust me , from 2002 to 2014 I reckon 3/4 of them weekends were 3 days benders. then I’d go to work more often than not . Now I can’t hack one night on it . Age catches up with us .
