It doesn't start until you stop drinking, either.

I had 4 pints @ 5% and 4 rum and cokes and stopped at about half 12 on Saturday night and the calculator said I couldn't drive again until 5pm on Sunday.
That's about right - it'd be about fourteen hours. All based on averages, but usually you'll be under the limit if you've got three or four units of ale in your system.

Since COVID MKII, I've knocked a lot of ale on the head compared to the reduced amount I was already drinking. Unless I'm going the match, I don't drink now.

I enjoy a drink, whether by myself or with mates. Strictly not when I have work the next day though.

I'm seemingly better than the majority with hangovers and have never had a headache in my life, or at least to the point where it impedes me or feel the need to tell someone my head hurts.

If I was being totally honest with myself I need to curb it a bit as I actively look forward to a drink at the weekend and that mindset I wouldn't mind kicking given I do have a bit of an addictive personality.

I went out last night with my team from work who are all over near mine for a 2 day course, I knew I didn’t want a heavy one but had a few pints and a few rum and cokes although I did stay in control of myself despite being a little drunk. Some of them there just hammered it though and got totally smashed all on the firms bill ? . I got sent a pic of one my male colleagues in the hotel they’re all staying at absolutely wrecked and trying on one of the woman’s sports bra. I made a huge mistake forwarding it to a colleague named Clara and accidentally sent it to my QCF assessor named Clare instead ???

Since the Covid lockdown I have a small beer fridge in the garage in which I keep my classic cars. I now have little interest in paying €5 for a Guinness in a pub when I can have some nice cold cans in my favourite armchair for less than half the price.

My wife does give out that I am not socialising enough however.

Getting older I suppose

Interesting reading all of the stories of you guys who are tee total now. I can relate to a lot of the situations being described....yet I haven't felt motivated enough to pack it all in myself.

I really enjoy a drink. Love a few pints before and after the match, love a couple of beers after finishing work when I'm off for a few days, either in the pub, or at home. Love a glass of red wine with a meal, love a dry gin in the garden on a sunny evening, love a single malt nightcap. It all helps me unwind after a stressful working environment.

Still exercise myself, still socialise myself, and still organise myself.

Should I dreink less? - Probably
Do I want to drink less? - Not yet, but possibly in future.

I probably should drink less, and now that it is mostly at home and therefore cheaper, I need to be careful. No work to worry about now as I am retired, so I find myself watching TV to the early hours.

Mrs BR complaining about how late I go to bed - then after 30 years I am used to her comforting comments
