I was quite a heavy drinker (mostly beer) when I was a student and in my early working years. I began to cut down after I got married as my wife has never been a great drinker. Now it is an occasional bottle of beer or glass of wine with a meal. I can’t remember the last time I went to a pub.

From what my more hard-core caner friends tell me, there's been mass cross breeding of strains so the THC count is off the scale. Which they love, but they rarely venture out in daylight and appear to have a uniform of a dreadful cough, hoodies and nicotine stained fingers. As well as an odour of ganj that can put you to sleep at 50 paces. Not to mention some of the more interesting conspiracy theories they'll tell you about...

Guess there may be other reasons I knocked it on the head ?

You forgot to mention that they also have the pallor of Dracula, teeth like Harold Steptoe and the short term memory span of a goldfish.

Plus, they are rarely seen in the company of the opposite sex, unless it’s their mum taking them to be the garage, to jet wash them.

i miss the younger days of having a sinful and be out and about next day, now id say it takes me 5 days to feel normal again, thats obviously a sign of how bad it is for you

Im not anti drink by any stretch but its a hard slog isnt it
A hangover these days honestly comes with a good old, honest, down-home dose of the fear. I'd rather face an acid comedown its that bad. I went out on Saturday night and was on the rum for the first time in lord knows how long, I'm still paying for it today. Didn't even have a horrid amount.

After having heavy problems with alcohol early on in life I now don't even like drinking - a few beers or whiskeys every now and then or for occasions, sure, but arsed with a hangover 99% of the time tbh.

Feel better for it, personally. Luckily I have surrounded myself with people who either know when I should stop if I start (as it is a slippery slope, my "habit" is to down it in 1 go), or don't drink just as much as I do.

I stick to beer for any event nowadays anyway, as it's lighter booze.

Getting old changes everything , very rarely drink beer and would never have a second pint I can't physically drink it , hard to imagine I'd have 8 pints of Lager on Sunday nights after playing that morning and not need to get up for a leak. Drink about 3 glasses of wine most nights sometimes I won't drink for a few days and I like the feeling of no alcohol but get bored and start again .

Probably drink too much, but don't consider myself a problematic drinker. Very much into Belgian tripels and strong blond beers. Also enjoy my occasional whisky or Jägermeister. Don't drink every day, but also not strictly during the weekend.

Don't think I'd find it hard to quit if I had to for health reasons, but guess I could only reallly tell when that happens.

I’ve never been much of a drinker, I probably get drunk 2/3 times a year and never to the point I don’t remember anything. I have a beer maybe every few months

I enjoy a drink on my first day home from work as its my way of relaxing and getting work outta my system, saying that the amounts can vary week to week , sometimes I’ll have 3 or 4 cans of lager in the evening and other times I’ll drink 8 or 9 cans .. all depends how I feel and how tired I am. I also enjoy going to my local on a Friday tea time when all the lads finish work and we all meet up for a few beers, difference now though is when I was younger I’d drink to get drunk, now I drink socially or to relax at home but I know when I’ve had enough and can stop easily. I’ll probably have a few tonight watching the snooker … funny thing is though at home I won’t touch alcohol before 8pm

I drink whenever the hell I feel like it (1-3 times a week mostly), like you do as an adult, but it's always 1 to 1...drink responsibly.

I’m probably drinking more now than I used to but drinking less when I’m out. I go out earlier on a Saturday but home early. In the house it’s a different story as there’s always plenty of drink available.

Looking back I can see now that once upon a time I was heading down a very dark hole when it came to drinking.
I would go out to clubs during the week, get home around 3 am then go to work at 7 am. The last straw came at a works party where I went through about half bottle of rum then, later on, drove home. When I woke up I decided that was enough; never felt so disgusted with myself. These days if I want a pint, I will have one and that's it, it could be six months or even years before I have another.
