Leicester , Chelsea , Man utd , Newcastle and a momentous night in May.
We where all pulled back in after fearing the worst and hating everything Everton.

Roll on ,Richy sold talk we are badly skint one or two loans and thats it.
Lessons not learned we all say.

5 new signings and what looks like a plan developing .

Are you pulled back in again ?

Everton I Hate / Love you.
The new players are looking good; Everton are still however looking Everton. Tell me more about the plan you see developing and I could be convinced.

No.
What's the point? The sky brands get all the top money so they'll always be at the top. We are permanently cannon fodder these days so the entertainment can be flogged to the armchair.

The best teams like us could hope for, if we can get there despite bent refs and VAR, is to qualify for a meaningless European league designed to exhaust and distract successful upcoming teams from being able to challenge the sky brands for their dominant spots, the following year.

5 subs hands yet more advantage to the big sky squads.

Competition is dead, sport is dead in this game. So no I'm not back in and I'm not investing any emotional interest. Maybe if the financial tv bubble bursts....

The great thing about sport is that anything can happen, Leicester went from bottom of the league and going down to winning the league the next season after a few shrewd signings.

Two teams with the biggest squad depth, Liverpool and Man Utd drew with Fulham and lost to Brighton at home even with their five subs.

We can probably all guess who the top four will be, but sport has always thrown up surprises and that’s the way it will always be even though it keeps getting harder for the non-elite in football.

My take on Everton currently-

1 Wasn’t that bothered about Richarlison leaving , loved him but always left frustrated with him

2. Went along with judge us at the end of the window ….. fans need to chill and let people do their jobs

3. Relegation- not for me. Last year was survival and nothing more. Lampard and his experienced team are clearly imposing their identity on the squad which we will be fine. This year is about progress and maintaining prem safety

4. We will get through this FFP - P &S period and build the team eradicating the mismanagement of funds of the last 5 years

5. Sick to the back of hearing sell on value… we need stability / mixture of experience and youth / leadership- which we now have in Coady / Tarks / Gana and we have youth

6 . Ffs we are such a demanding fan base and half glass empty

7. Lampard will win us silverware

8. Life without EFC is boring

Sorry mate but while what you have said is undoubtedly true, it is not a new phenomenon. For every club in the lower divisions trying to improve and climb the ladder, there were always packs of wolves hovering to snap up their best players and prevent the climb from being sustainable. We were for a long, long time one of the alpha predators. Imagine if every fans of club in the old 4th, 3rd and 2nd divisions had taken that attitude? Football would have died off in the 50’s.

it can be done, Leicester did it, Tottenham have displaced Arsenal as one of the sky 6. Chelsea and City did it (albeit with massive investment). We can also do it, we just have to stop pissing our money up the wall on show biz signings and actually build a sustainable structure throughout the club that provides alternatives to players who get sold, poached or crocked.

It could work out or go horribly wrong (with injuries). I like the future guys (Antman, Patterson and Myko) and I am glad that Lampard is giving them time. We are bringing in 3 solid veteran signings for chips and a very intriguing prospect in Onana. I can at least get behind this team.

Yes. It simply cannot be worse than going into a season with benitez in charge. Last season was the most disengaged with everton I've ever been, could not be arsed. Lampard has been a breath of fresh air and granted he isn't the most experienced and will make mistakes but he hasn't half galvanised the club. We've made some good transfers, 3 points on the weekend and we will be a champions league club again. Ha

But in the past the clubs at the top changed ... regularly ... a lot. The big money thrown at the "successful clubs" from TV, advertising, sponsorship and prize money is disproportionate to what happened in the past absolutely ensuring that the safe, established, armchair selling brands stay exactly where tv and UEFA want them.

I'm firmly convinced that Leicester was scripted as a one off attempt to fabricate belief that some romance and competition could still exist. Like wwf, football is a cash cow now, not a sport.

Anything can happen? VAR has tightened the grip on the script to ensure that its even less likely now.
