A complete mess. How on earth this has happened in 2023 is beyond me. He even met some of the players on Sunday at FF!

I’m honestly at a loss with it all. All media done, medical done, agreements all done and he was scheduled to report for training today. Didn’t turn up, and the next thing we know is his agent hasn’t sent off the registration form to the FA (both sides have to do it) and he’s in London. What a shambles.

Why would the boys media be done + kit ready + shaking hands with players before having the paperwork completed?

In any business deal you get the paperwork done before anything like the above

Any delay from the other side, set a deadline before moving on.

Has he u-turned as he wanted to play for Lampard...im guessing they met and spoke. Why not sack him after the player was in?

Literally everything is pointing at Thelwell and the lack of a recruitment head...and the board of course.

Player was free to do anything until all the paperwork was complete.

How can this club take so incredibly long to get any sort of deal across the line. Beating this drum over and over, I know.

From top down this is embarrassing and neglectful.

I don’t want us to go down, yet it may be the only way back.

Board dismantled. Mosh forced to sell.
Lewin, Pickford, Gordon, oh hell boot em all and start over. This rinse and reappear behavior is beyond repair.

Of course while just about every club, especially around us has strengthened, abysmal by our board and recruitment team, by trying to sell the Rat Gordon that to me says we have given up and our board / chairman and owner are now busy getting rid of whoever is saleable in readiness for the Championship. Everton fans should really boycott going to Goodison until the board of directors are gone, but of course they wont.

If Pickford does leave Everton (which I sincerely hope he doesn't) I would love this to happen:

He agrees to sign for Spurs for hefty price (60m?), has medical, promo shot with the Spurs shirt and an arm around Levy, then the next day he signs for Arsenal, the new champions, for half the price.

He'll be gone by June 30th this year.

What do you expect them to do, hold him prisoner until he signs the contract ?

He held all the cards. He had multiple offers, we clearly have a desperate need for reinforcements.

Can’t make him sign anything no, but it does make you look a right bunch of clowns when you’ve laid out a training kit for him knowing full well the deal isn’t completed, and you’re left chasing his agent asking “excuse me, where’s your player please?”.

Reminiscent of when Gosling left us for Newcastle, Kenrwight thought he was going to sign a contract extension with us and went whinging to the media saying “…but we had a gentleman’s agreement, we had shaken hands!”.

We are so naive it’s untrue, it’s like our board doesn’t know how the real world works.
