Arouna Kone

Players said all these things. The problem is they will never get fit and be released on free transfer when their contracts expired.

Just imagine for a second that he was named as a striker in your sat/sunday team. Be honest, you wouldn't be impressed would you? I wonder what his fellow pro's think when he is named on the team sheet. Seriously I would rather have Marcus Bent or silky Steve Watson running the line than this fella.

Massive flop, buy him a one way ticket to his favourite holiday destination.

Sometimes people are so blind they can't see the awesome Kone they have in front of them.

You'll all miss him if he goes.

When I saw this thread brought up again, it raised my hopes that someone might be interested in buying kone. My hopes were dashed when reading the thread. It seems only Martinez sees something in the lad and he's bought him TWICE. One of the worst value for money buys in our recent history.

Somebody needs to remind Roberto that we are a long term Lukaku injury away from this bloke being our number 1 and only striker...

dunno lads , I am usually fairly impatient with players who dont perform and ai dont have any major affection for Kone over other players however if there is a player I think could turn it round it could be him.
I said it here many times when Martinez took over here that I had seen Wigan play a fair few times live in his last season and Kone and McCarthy were head and shoulders above the rest in terms of ability.
For whatever reason he hasnt looked a shadow of that player for us, if he can regain that form he will do the bizz I have no doubts. I hope he does for our sake not his.

Too right, if a premier league striker and international turned up for my Sunday League side, I'd be furious.

point is, if we had to rely on this guy to get us goals to win games then we are in big trouble. For me, he is in the same bracket as the likes of shola ameobi, carlton cole, marlon harewood etc etc. He is just not a match winner for a team that wants to be in the top 6/7 for me. I'm not one for blasé, saying chuck a kid in and lets see what he can do, or spending loads of money on a foreigner because they have a funky name. But for the little this guy has done for us. Its not like he has shown promise, or will improve with age.

All in all, I just have no confidence in this guy, I'll back him because he's ours but I would much rather he wasn't.

what's the main similarity you see between Kone and those 3 players?

Premier league Goal record, alright kone isn't quite at 1 in 5 yet (not got the goals to minutes ratio), but i predict it soon will be and it will get worse. Age, wrong side of 30 and past his best, I'm hoping it will be a case of letting his contract run down and let him go. By which time we should have a vision for succession.

Hey, makes no odds really, I'll still be at goodison park when he has taken his wages and moved on, football wise this bloke just brings out the worst in me...

What's your view on Mr Kone?

Even then he wouldn't get the start, surely. I'd put Naismith or Mirallas up front before sicknote Kone - both have shown they can score goals, which Kone demonstrably can no longer do.
