Need to win this. Anything but a win and it just shows to me that no progress is being made. We have Richarlison back so need to show confidence. These are not a very good team, but if allowed to they can be. Let's not allow them to be good and take the game to them.

Starting point should be to solve not having Gana and Scneiderlin playing together in a 4-2-3-1.
The argument that we don't have anything better, that its the safest most reliable option, should be long gone by now.
I can't see Silva going there again and if he does there has to be serious question asked about what the hell is going on.
The deficiencies in the two players can not be wished away. To put them as a 2 exposes the defence and offers little to the players in front.
Its not fair on the players behind or in front of them and its especially not fair on them.
The fact is, there is no combination of players available that could play the 2.
And its a big if that Gomes will slot in to the 4-2-3-1 and solve the problems.
The formation needs to be binned for at least the foreseeable future.

What team/formation do you suggest?

On their day, both players are excellent at their job. Silva has been asking Gana to be more offensive, this is not what he does best. He is excellent at breaking up play but, not great at going forward. Schneids is/was better at taking the ball forward but since koeman and sam he has become a crab.

not too sure what we can do until Gomes comes in.

Davies likes to play forward but cannot pass!

Feels like Silva needed to get decoure or Carvalho to suit his system but failed.

Ayyyy?

Not a single Everton player gets in that Arsenal team (I'd argue Pickford but I know the general consensus would disagree). We have a poorer squad and are away from home to a team who we haven't beat at their place for over 20 years. Thats a bit unrealistic to use this as a measure for how much progress we have made.

I think of this game as almost a free hit, I don't expect anything so I want us to have a go to try and win as oppose to just not lose. I think Silva will do that.

We actually dont have any other options.

Not a single midfield option is good.

Both teams will be better going forward than defending.

I think we will be on the wrong end of a goal fest - 4-2 to Arsenal.

I’d just play a front four of Bernard behind Lookman Richarlison Walcott and then just sit everyone else back deep. Just hit them on the counter.

This is actually a fixture where i think silvas tactics have a chance. take it to them and theres a good chance of scoring a few goals. They have conceded in every game they have played, so chances should be there

There are options.
Just not any that could cope with the demands of a 4-2-3-1.
Its time the club and coach(es) came to realisation that this formation is not the one to build from.
I cant think of one team that has built from this successfully in the last ten years.
Maybe City, but they had barry, milner, de jong, toure and were just as likely to use 3 in central midfield or 4-4-2.

There options are found using a three man centre midfield (5-3-2/3-5-2) or a flat or diamond 4-4-2.
Choose either and build from there.
