Art

Love Art me, not when it's given pretentious interpretations by 'critics' though, I prefer to find my own likes and see things my way.
I love Hieronymous Bosch, Gustav Dore and H R Giger but can appreciate 'technique' in portraits and landscapes etc.
Not something I've really delved into but would never dismiss it.
Some very "dark" artists the MJ,I particularly like Bosh very thought provoking images

I guess there is,I just couldnt figure out how for example he could do that with a photo of his son,to the point it was a carbon copy, yet if his son sat in front of him he couldnt do the same,it just seemed strange as it was the same image really,so is there a particular type of art you are looking to do,portrait, landscape, abstract?
I do portraits in pencil but I find it difficult in paint. Landscape is easier because it doesn't have to have a likeness, as a portrait does. The painting I'm most pleased about was a watercolour of a dog I did recently in America. It was only meant to be a dabble but it came out so well the owner asked if she could have it. It's more a case of what medium to use. I'm careless clumsy and messy so I decided to use watercolour and gouache, which is like watercolour but opaque.

I just want to learn how to paint really. If I can learn to paint portraits that would be great. Today I've started two gouache landscapes. If I only do one I'll get impatient waiting for one layer to dry so will add more paint before it's ready.

If you watch Portrait Artist of the Year you'll see most of the artists take a photo of the sitter, or draw a grid on the canvas. Not every artist can paint what they see in front of them

Someone, for the love of god, find 'horse' ;)

I studied fine art at Uni, had a few bits exhibited at our local museum - wanted to be a curator and ended up a graphic designer.

Went to Rome last week, Raphael, Michelangelo, Bernini and Caravaggio everywhere - loved it.

Have plenty of photos if it's of interest to anyone else!
What is a curator?
