He's on a massive wage. That alone would see him as a prime candidate to get shut of.

Why did they agree to pay it only 11 months ago, then?

I reckon he's seen as a symbol of the club by BK and maybe even DM. He's our Stevie Me Laaaa. He's one of our least expendable players, age notwithstanding.

That said, it would be hard to begrudge him going to play for a Basque side.

Hmmmm, tough one. When he was in form, he was magnificent, was he not? One of the leagues best central midfielders, without a doubt.


He's just not done it this season though. The question is, can he reach those levels of old again? If he can, keep him. If not, get shut, because he's just not offering us anything at the moment.

There has been absolutely nothing from Mikel about wanting to leave , so to say a player who has served Everton well doesnt have his heart in it is a tad unfair .

I wouldnt think Everton would sell Mikel for 7m .
