Martinez could have easily taken the armband off him

Koeman is thinking of selling him FFS

Again though, I don't think there was a better choice for Martinez anyway, outside of maybe Barry and I wouldn't want a, then, loanee as club captain

What he should have done was keep Jags as Captain for 13/14 before passing the mantle onto Barry when he signed full-time in 14/15, or gone with an outside the box choice such as Coleman or Jimmy Mac

Jagielka was imeasurably the best choice when he got the gig and was also the best choice when Martinez first got here (Unless Martinez was prepared to keep Fellaini, which I couldn't see happening as Fellaini didn't fit his "vision")
Wouldn't it be somewhat degrading for Jags to be stripped of the armband?

He's been a decent enough player for Swansea while he's been in the Prem but he's not top notch is he, we're after him at the peak of his hype. He will never again and never before has he been rated so highly and If he has abar 3 or 4 good games to start with the hype from the knee jerkers will be almost unbearable but it could be a price worth paying.

Based on what? I can't think of a comparable signing anywhere.

Would you be happy if we sold Rom for £75M and then replaced him with Defoe for £16M. That's the striker equivalent of what we are doing here. Madness.
Breaking the mould kind of means there is nothing to compare to mate. I'll leave you to fixing up your noose.

We broke the mould to sign an old geezer. That's up there with the 7th place cup in terms of achievements. Our fanbase will accept any old crap as long as it's dressed up like a box of chocolates it seems.

John Stones (in his head) is at a level above where we are. It's not a lack of ambition on our part, we couldn't keep him. Try to accept that and move on. Williams is quality and has a good few years ahead of him to help get us to a point where the likes of Stones would want to stay.

He had a contract, we could have kept him. The only argument against this that has any validity is the STCC regs but if we plan to use our increased wages spending power on Bolasie, Williams and Kone (who I doubt would add more than the permissible 7M anyway) then that seems like a false economy. Unless, of course, we need to sell to buy.

Nah mate, Jags is too nice, can't remember him ever getting in a refs face, or handing a bollocking out to any of our players when they'd cocked up, or ever be a snide.

Remember when Kev landed that nasty high boot on Suarez? And then the RS Physio came out and said something along the lines of "c'mon mate, that's a red" to the referee?

Jags went ballistic on both the referee and physio. Ironically, I think the physio's comments were the only thing that prevented Mirallas from seeing red.
