Don't think he played well yesterday but was excellent against Utd and overall has been good. Needs a better partner who compliments him - i.e. a ball playing cb with a bit more pace and tenacity.

Haha what? Ability is the main factor in a footballers ability. Age has an effect but it's not uniform and it's not universal. His age is irrelevant unless he's actually playing awfully because of his age. There's no evidence of that, just that he's not playing well.

But management decided for the 2 or 3 years ESTIMATED time he has left he was worth that as his positives outweighed his shorter career for us. We both don't know when he will retire or when his body will deteriorate.
