Well let me put it another way. The only constraint we now have on any player purchase is, as you point out, the wages "cap" we are currently under.

One significant Stones sized move away pretty much removes that.

But, we will not make stupid signings like some have done in the past.

Hear! Hear!

Ive heard us linked to the following keepers, from various sources :

Kasper
Leno
Forster
Begovic
Arsenal Polish fella
For me:

1) Leno
2) Forster
3) Woj
4) Kasper
5) Begovic

Leno in a class by himself. Forster, Woj and Kasper kind of lumped together, and i would be pleased by any of the 3. Not really a fan of Begovic.

Any of them should be please to have Ashley in front of them.

We really need a couple of good strikers

If were keeping Rom i recon we just need to add one more striker to be honest.

Gerry has shown he can do a job there in pre season although i wouldnt really fancy him against prem defenders week in week out

walshy seems to know how to pick em! so in regards to FFP - its stones who will be moving on then? rom will stay? no chance of them both leaving is there mate?

Hopefully? Sure wouldn't you, being 'ITK' as you keep smugly reminding the rest of us, know if he was an Everton target? So why would this concern you?

Examples of this please mate? I pass on info that's passed down to me in good faith. Whether it's 100% true is a different story entirely. I don't "smugly remind everyone" I am "ITK".

Anyway he's a catastrophic defender. I'd sign BMI (His initials are BMI for Christ's sake) for the giggles of trying to watch him be a Premier League player, but that's about it.

None of that is true.
If a player looks after himself there is no reason why they cannot play at their peak up to at least 35. Obviously you need a bit of luck with injuries and you need to manage your lifetstyle, but has Gareth Barry shown signs of decline ?, if anything he has improved since he came here.

It feels like you're thinking of the exceptions rather than what's the norm. The norm for high level athletes is to start declining somewhere between 31 and 34. Sometimes their abilities degrade slowly. Other times it's faster.

Gareth Barry is massively into his decline phase. He was never fast but he's an absolute sloth at this point in his career. Only his incredible ability to read the game and his vast experience are keeping him relevant. He's also benefited from having defenders behind him when he gets beat. Center backs usually don't have that luxury.

Well its not FFP, but thats irrelevant. Its a PL rule.

But anyrate. Look, I am not ITK, but from a business/salary cap reason, selling Stones makes 100% sense. Some would also argue a footballing one.

On Rom, I cannot see any reason why we would sell him. Even for daft cash, unless we have a replacement in mind. He is our only striker. But if Chelsea stump up £75m, (which I dont think they will, ) and we land *random boss striker* then it could happen.

Dont think it will mind.
